D-4 having been taken by the canonical Klingon Bird-of-Prey from Into Darkness, they should probably go with "D'ama"

Not necessarily. Ship class names can be reused (Intrepid-class) and one can differentiate between a D4-class battlecruiser and a D-4 class bird-of-prey.

And since "D'ama" is actually from FASA's D-4, which looks different than the rejected battlecruiser intended for Unexpected, and was about a century later in the timeline, they should probably just go with something else entirely.

(I forget, did Into Darkness actually call those ships "D-4"s on screen, or is that just BTS info?)

Thanks! I googled it beforehand but a quick glance didn't reveal anything meaningful. Behind the scene,s it is.
