I admire someone who not only turns up for her Raspberry Award but makes an acceptance speech.

I've never understood the fan complaints about her character in the X-Men movies. They were lucky to get her, particularly for the first one - how many Oscar winners do superhero movies? Jack Nicholson, once? Brando?

I think she was perfectly cast as Ororo. Who else would have been good?

Well, Grace Jones or Jessica Alba.

Angela Bassett.

Halle Berry seems like a fine lady, though. No complaints here.

Halle Berry's Ororo was not the best-written part in the X-Men movies. She did the best she could with what she had. (I love those movies, at least the first two, but: "Do you know what happens to a toad that's struck by lightning? [dramatic pause] The same thing that happens to everything else." The CLUNK was audible, one has to admit.) With stronger material to play off, she can do memorable work (cf. Things We Lost in the Fire, which I actually liked better than Monster's Ball).

Her delivery was terrible though. Sarah Michelle Gellar would have pulled it off.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was used to and could recognize Whedon-style humor by then. Unfair comparison.
