Re: UESPA Announces the Launch of Earth's First Warp Ship

The United Nations was abolished shortly after the genetically engineered "supermen" rose to power in the early 1990s. However, as the Eugenics Wars raged on, humanity rallied together to overthrow these dictators who dared call themselves superior. Following their overthrow, and the stabilization of nations around the world, there arose the need for a new organization to promote and facilitate international cooperation. Thus the New United Nations was born. With a new charter, this organization would press forwards stronger and more resilient. It is our hope that during this, the 21st century, we may yet see a world at peace.

Re: UESPA Announces the Launch of Earth's First Warp Ship

Here's the 52 state US flag. It's not really that spectacular as far as creativity.

And here's the beginning of the banner from the Post apocalyptic courtroom scene in "Encounter At Farpoint".

In my story part of the western US was invaded by the Eastern Coalition just prior to the Atomic attacks. This banner will be used by a "nation"(more like post-apocalyptic band of thugs) that will form in the area that was invaded.

Including Texas?
Oh, if they invaded Texas, well you know Texans. They love their guns.

I'd almost feel a little sorry for anyone stupid enough to attempt an invasion there. Almost. I've heard that some Texans can be, well trigger happy. After all, "you don't mess with Texas"!

Same thing goes with Nevada and New Mexico, since the U.S. Air Force has many bases there. Their response would be swift, I'd imagine.

Re: UESPA Announces the Launch of Earth's First Warp Ship

I was actually thinking more like California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Maybe some of British Columbia. Perhaps some of Arizona, Idaho and Utah as well. I have yet to work out the actual area, but that's what I'm shooting for(pun intended).

I'm also considering that a nuclear detonation in this area would start the nuclear destruction between the ECon and the Allied Forces(or whatever they will be called).

Yeah, that would cause the U.S. Air Force to respond swiftly. They won't even allow their own citizens near Area 51 in Nevada (which is near Las Vegas).
How do you think the U.S. military would respond if enemy forces were in occupation of territory surrounding one of their most heavily guarded bases?

And this is considering the response to the invasion of 4 whole states, and 3 additional partial states. If ECON were to successfully occupy one of the important military bases in the area, the U.S. Air Force might respond by destroying it, rather than letting it remain in enemy hands, especially if it had above top secret technology and research. Perhaps they might even nuke it?

Re: UESPA Announces the Launch of Earth's First Warp Ship

Well my summer job brought this project to a screeching halt. But now that it's over I've had some time to work on it a bit more. I've remodeled and added details to the command module. I'm also working on modeling and rigging the landing legs; but no images yet.

Here's my work on the landing leg so far. It still needs some tweaking and rigging.

Here is the leg extended:

Here is the leg retracted:

My next posting I should have the leg rigged and added to the model. I might even try an animation of the leg extending and retracting.

I think this is the first animation that I've ever posted.

Re: UESPA Announces the Launch of Earth's First Warp Ship

There will be two models of the Valiant one with and one without Warp Nacelles. The reference images of these type warp engines are very low resolution so I will be filling in the gaps with my own creativity.

There seems to be an interesting history associated with the engines from the Jein model. From these early images we can see the engines as there first were on the model.

It then seems that the pylons were repositioned, however this could have been the original angle of the pylons and it was changed to match the hull. I'm not sure the orders in which these photos were taken.

The engines were then removed and put on the C1-21(aka Mystery Ship) model.

http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/...ps10c4f4c7.jpg

Then the pylons were again repositioned so the the engines are straight across from each other.

Then when the C1-21 was used as a prop in an episode of Voyager the engines were removed.

I wonder what happened to them. If anybody sees a stray pair of Warp Nacelles...

Actually I plan on incorporating the changing pylon angle into my design. My idea is that early warp ship had these movable pylons so that they could better tune the warp field by moving the engines themselves.

Here is my start on the warp engines:

Just testing the glow for the reactor domes.

Re: UESPA Announces the Launch of Earth's First Warp Ship

Here's a look at the progress so far. I think the warp engines are done being modeled. I put them with the ship to do some scaling and positioning. The nacelle pylons need beefed up a bit. I think she looks pretty good so far.

That is really beautiful work.
The pylons seem a little weak.

Re: UESPA Announces the Launch of Earth's First Warp Ship

I've beefed up the pylons a bit, but I still might make them a bit bigger. I'd say the modeling is about 90-95% complete.

These pictures probably aren't post worthy because not much has changed, but I really liked the nacelle design. I tried to stay true to the original model while also bridging the nacelle design of the Phoenix and the Friendship 1 probe.

Here is the nacelle off:

Here is the nacelle on:

I agree that the nacelle pylons seem a little thin.

I never considered that the "Where No Man Has Gone Before" Valiant could land. The STAR TREK Encyclopedia Valiant (years before ENT was put into production) is an interesting if radically different design compared to the ships was saw in ENT.

I hope more artists take this concept in new and fascinating directions.

Thank you for sharing this refreshing 3D artwork.
