The Naked Now, Code of Honor, and Encounter at Farpoint pt 1 all back to back on BBC America last night.

^^ Ditto for me too. By today's standards, the short female crewman checking out Riker in the corridor after helping him with the wall computer seemd really creepy. I don't think "Code of Honor" could get made today because it's borderline sexist and racist.

And don't forget that it's also stupider than a container of yamok sauce crammed down Morn's pants. That episode is offensive on pretty much every level one can think of.

I also noticed for the first time last night that its a loose rip off of Amok Time in ways. The honor/battle theme, that is.

I think there are quite a few episodes that are loosely based on TOS outings. "The Last Outpost" is loosely based on "Arena", "Lonely Among Us" is loosely based on "Journey to Babel" and "Home Soil" is loosely based on "The Devil in the Dark". Too name a few.

Re: Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

All very valid. I guess it finally struck me last night because:

A. It is an episode that I almost never watch.

B. It was on right after The Naked Now, which is an unexcused remake of The Naked Time.

So the fact that much of Season One wasn't nearly as original as I had once thought it was kind of hit home on the re-watch. But it was still okay from a nostalgic stand point.

Probably one of the reasons I love season one. It still "felt" like the Star Trek I knew growing up.

Re: Last Star Trek Episode You Watched

And most of the planet backdrops and alien skies looked almost exactly like the TOS alien planet sets from twenty years earlier. A lot of planets visited by the 1701-D crew looked like brightly-lit soundstages with styrofoam rocks, but that was part of the appeal of the first season.
