Playing around with some prop ideas.
Here's my pre-TOS padd concept prop, with some FJ technical manual artwork for the graphic.
The paper surface is intentional, as the prop will not be illuminated. But for detail shots, the "paper" will be animated, and have colors and interface (as well as being a literal physical writing surface). Essentially, the in-universe explanation is that you can physically write on the surface with a pen or pencil, and the padd can store that writing as searchable data. That way, something that /seems/ old fashioned to modern audiences in TOS is actually a fairly high-tech piece of hardware. Not just a chunky black iPad.
I like it. Although it seems a little Hitchhiker's Guide to me.

Also the art is not FJ, it's aridas sofia: http://cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/blu...-2-sheet-1.jpg and http://cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/blu...-1-sheet-4.jpg

Sure, I'd be happy to. Here's a quick render of the ship as it currently is. All details are subject to change.

Hmmm, I don't think any Hitchhiker's Guide relationship is clear enough for me to worry - though it's not like any of that technical explanation will be said on-screen. It'll just be visual details.

And thanks for the correction. I'm not very well-versed in all the technical books, so I was bound to misattribute something.

A look at a new costume concept for Mission Control specialists at Starfleet HQ. These specialists play an instrumental part in the film.

Will you be establishing any backstory going off on the Romulan War series Enterprise novels? I know that some of the details in these books were written in mind with what the Enterprise folks were planning to do during the Romulan War.

The Romulan War will not be discussed at great length in the film, but the characters are greatly affected by the political/social climate that came out of the war. So the film concerns itself less with the details of the war, and more with how it affected the way people think.
Like in "Balance of Terror", very few specifics of the conflict will be revealed.

Here's a short little video I put together to see the Pacific 3D model in motion. Still no textures or fancy rendering, but it's a start!

We also see a vast dust cloud in this clip. This particular interstellar phenomenon plays an extremely important role in the story.

Re: PACIFIC 201 - A Star Trek Film

Thanks for the feedback! There will surely be more to come once my PC comes back from the repair shop!

In the meantime, I've taken a serious swing at what the NCC-201's command chair will look like!

Re: PACIFIC 201 - A Star Trek Film

Here's a list of compliments:

-Pacific 201 is an amazing title. I'm very jealous of it.
-The creative concept behind it is very original.
-The look of the ship is nerdy cool. I love it.
-The captain's chair looks very neat.

I cannot wait for more developments on this thing.

Wow, thanks, my friend!

Here is the newest progress on the film - a new prop! Here's my idea of a 2200's tricorder!

Re: PACIFIC 201 - A Star Trek Film

Well, I thought since this is six decades before TOS, I wanted the TOS tricorders to feel lavish by comparison.

But all that aside, this is just a prototype prop, so I'm definitely still open to suggestions!

That's a rock and a hard place aesthetic choice, isn't it? Have to make it look futuristic, yet not as advanced as tech on a 60's show...
