Hey, if it's any help the top nacelle gets blown off by Klingons almost as soon as the ship is introduced.

Reminds me of the Millennium Falcon losing its satellite dish in Return of the Jedi while traversing the Death Star superstructure.

Alright, I'm quite certain that some people here at the BBS insist that this is the appropriate thread to post, after the other two (TNG & Fan Art) have been closed.

On the other hand, I still insist that "Redemption II" qualifies as a premise change which relocated "Yesterday's Enterprise" into a "parallel universe" (quote David Carson, 2008) and thus restored the authenticity of the conference lounge sculpture wall of the Enterprise-D which featured Andrew Probert's original Enterprise-C:

So here is my favorite "previously not prominently featured on TNG" starship from yet another interesting angle.

My God, will you let it go? You seem to bring it up in every thread you participate in at this point.

Nice looking ship and definitely non-canon since it never appeared on-screen.

Apparently I missed something (haven´t been very active at the BBS recently) but how is Andrew Probert´s design not canon? It has been part of that sculpture wall in the briefing lounge of the Enterprise-D until they changed the wall with the beginning of season five. Sure, it was a rather crude model and not fleshed out as perfectly as the CGI model above, but still it was on screen for four years and is thus part of on-screen canon!

Re: Favorite non-canon ship

Welcome to the "happy few" (where both Enterprises-C are canon, once you accept "Redemption II" as a premise change enabling us to have cake and eat it, too).

You can read in the corresponding TNG thread and the corresponding Fan Art thread that there are several BBS members that doubt the authenticity (and therefore canon value) of the golden wall sculptures aboard the Enterprise-D. It's really worth to read how some people try to discredit something that is so obvious and shouldn't require additional explanations, IMHO.

@BillJ

Was that another approach not to talk about the issue? The one thing that was obvious in the two aforementioned threads was that some fans apparently thought they could tell others what to talk about and what not. And in the Fan Art thread some guys, other than the OP (!), even asked the moderator to close the thread.

Actually, I visited yesterday the "Fan Productions" section and noticed that on 03-26-14 the above CGI image had been posted. Since the corresponding Fan Art thread was closed a day later and the Enterprise-C had become a forbidden subject, I wondered where I could share this nice CGI image. I then realized that this thread was the perfect option, especially considering how you and a few others feel about the subject (but obviously that's still not good enough ).

Mario - some would argue that it's a canon model display, nothing more. YMMV and for me that's far too simplistic an explanation for anything Star Trek!

For myself, I'm content to sit back admire Tobias Richter's beautiful work

After glancing over the two threads Bob pointed out (thanks, Bob) you´re probably right on both points. And I guess I just leave it at that, lest this thread also gets closed ...

I heartily agree with that

You heard of the proverb "the third time is a charm"?
The vocal opponents had severe issues with a possible "canon" status of the Probert design, so this "non-canon" thread title should adequately appease them, I think.

Finally something perhaps "everyone" can agree to?

I think you're overstating it a bit, but whatever. I just get tired of having to just skip over your posts because you invariably cry about those threads.

There's a saying that's apt here: "let it go". You have your own view of the Trek universe and that's great (we all do), but you seem to take it as an insult that we all don't bow down to your interpretations.

Well according to what I read in those other threads, no one seemed to find Bob presenting a new take on things "great" but they ridiculed him and dismissed his interpretations without being open to new possibilities or at least asking any constructive questions.

It´s more like people seemed to take it as an insult that he doesn´t bow down to the "established facts" of Trekdom, but presented an alternative interpretation instead.

Mario

PS: We should be stopping to derail this thread!
