It doesn't really make any sense to me to put ads for Blu-Ray on a dvd, since if you're watching a dvd, you're not going to see any improvement about the image on the screen.
You too must be old enough to remember watching ads for color-TV... on your b/w-set.

Ads didn't make sense then, so I'm not confused that they don't make sense now.
Yeah, we got a color tv for Christmas 1965. So I saw a lot of shows convert from b&w to color.

I've thought about getting a new tv, but I don't have cable, so not sure if the tv's can pick up anything with an indoor antenna.

If it's HD ready, it can pick up over-the-air HD channels.

I was a victim of bad timing. I bought a new tube tv in 2006, but then everything went digital a couple of years later and I couldn't afford to get the digital converter. Maybe I'll wait until that tv is 10 years old.

It really depends on where you live. I've been in dead zones before. Not fun. I got ABC and that was it.

I bought my TV in 1993. It works fine. I have a DVD player and VCR hooked up to it. When I moved into my condo in 2007 they furnish basic cable in the HOA fee so I have the digital box for cable. I don't watch much TV. My set might get turned on once or twice a week to watch the Simpsons.

*headdesks* actually I voted DVD only but forgot my PS3, as I pretty much never use it as a player and often forget it is one.

Nevermind.

My PS3 is the only media device I have. Blu Ray, DVD, Netflix, video games...

My TV isn't quite at the point to make it worth it just yet, but I'll probably get a Blue-Ray player sooner rather than later. I currently have a Region-free DVD player so it would be a shame to lose that, though.

It makes for a great media device, really. On top of those things also having Amazon Prime/video service on it.

Re: Do you have a BluRay player? Do you have a DVD player?

In New Zealand we have shite and expensive internet, and the rights to broadcasts are tied up with satellite providers so we have no decent "Netflix" type provider here. iTunes New Zealand doesn't even have a tv show section.

I have a DVD player and rent movies occasionally the old fashioned way. My TV is only 720p so I have no reason to upgrade to a Blu-Ray just yet.

I do however work at a Post Production facility who make documentaries and am currently knee deep in 4K footage, so I'm not a complete Luddite!

720p is HD and is better than the SD video of DVD, so you can still benefit from BD.

I know, but when you work with 2160 week after week it's hard just having 720.

It can't be that hard, since you don't have either now.

The only thing putting me off buying A Blu ray player is that I would then have to re-buy all my DVDs. That would be a major expense considering the quantity I own.

I don't think I could re-buy all my DVD's either. Fortunately, it isn't necessary.

My newer purchases tend to be Blu-Ray though
