Robert Beltran on AMA

Huh. Somehow stumbled onto Reddit and saw that Robert Beltran is doing a Reddit AMA today at 1pm EST.

Who's got a question?

Ooops, was I supposed to go? I was too afraid to look in on it in case no-one asked him anything. That would have made me sad for him, so I stayed away. I always worry about that, no matter hwo famous the person

Yay, people answered him! Link

Q: Was there a unfilmed kiss scene between Chakotay and Janeway?

His answer: Only at Kate's house with our own private camera. We have had private screenings since. You'll never see it.

RB: The fans who were hoping for a Janeway/Chakotay relationship were disappointed. The fans who were hoping for a Paris/Chakotay were disappointed. I thanked my lucky stars that it ended up Chakotay/Seven of Nine.

He knows of us Paris/Chakotay shippers \o/

No problem teacake

Re: Robert Beltran on AMA

my question is: which episodes are you most proud of? Your favorites etc.
robertbeltran74[S] 15 points 2 hours agoThe pilot, "Tattoo", "Unforgettable", "In the Flesh", "Maneuvers", "Scorpion 1 & 2", "Emanations", "Nemesis" and actually quite a few others the titles of which I don't remember. What were yours?

tidbit..

Re: Robert Beltran on AMA

A great example of Robert's flippancy.

Q: Who's the worst person you have ever met? why is that person so bad?

RB: I met a Wall Street investor and when I left the meeting I had no shoes and my underwear was gone...

Q: Well at least you have your health.

RB: Until he meets an insurance company CEO.

Q: Male or Female Wall Street investor? :P

RB: I couldn't tell because the fangs and claws were very distracting.

I get to see him this June!!!

ETA:

I finally got to the part about the J/C kiss... I love this addition

Q: Oh come on .... please let us see it .... I'm sure all the Janeway/Chakotay fans could pool some money together to give to Resilient 3D if you would let us see it!!! LOL

RB: Let me get Kate's okay, in anticipation of her positive response go ahead and make your pledge to Kickstarter for RESILIENT 3D, time is running out.

ETA II:

RB: My favorite episode was the one with Virginia Madsen. Not only was it an intimate story, but Virginia was great to work with and I am happy we will be working together again on RESILIENT 3D! With a successful Kickstarter campaign (hint, hint) we will begin shooting April 1st.

Recall, that VM won an Oscar (Best Supporting Actress) in 2005 for "Sideways".

I couldn't read it all, thanks for the snippets. Reddit blurs my brain.

Re: Robert Beltran on AMA

I feel bad about his movie... they started a Kickstarter campaign for it that ends kind of soon and they only made nearly 5k out of a 200k goal.

Re: Robert Beltran on AMA

I guess I should feel bad but lets compare the promo video for it vs the one for Veronica Mars. I never even saw the VM TV show and I was pulled into watching the promo, laughing along the way. They wanted 2 million dollars, they got 5.7 million.

This new one panders in the first 3 sentences to "Star Trek fans" then switches to some producer who bemoans how much more they need to do the project. I stopped right there.

Aren't they supposed to excitedly jump up and down about their fantastic movie and make us WANT to give them our money, because their project is just SO cool and we'd be so proud to be a part of it? Heck, even Tim Russ/Walter Koenig's push to invest in Renegades did a better job at that than these producers.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...trek-renegades

I suspect the problem is today's producers saw VM collect twice what they asked for in what, 4 days and thought "Hey, easy money", but never stopped to consider the kickstarter campaign is just that, a campaign that they need to wage and win, not just a hat they throw down in the subway station, hoping scifi starved fans will drop their coins into it as we pass by.

Maybe this experience will give them pause.

Re: Robert Beltran on AMA

Yeah that is true. I would feel way more confident giving to Tim Russ's project lol.

This has been Robert as his best!
He was absolutely great in his answers and interaction with the fans. I`m still laughing.
@ Hazel-There are 1586 comments. I`ve also first been afraid, but than I decided to have a look and I couldn`t stop reading.
@ JanewayRulz!- Agree. It`s a pity they did such a bad job making the vid. They should have ask how to do a promovid for kickstarter.

Yeah, there's a webcomic artist that posted a kickstarter campaign to do a visual novel based on his webcomic. He asked for 20k, expected 10k, but got nearly 300k! His goal was blown away on day one. He was actually beginning to have trouble thinking of side goals!
