We probably would if we hung out at forums devoted to those shows as much as we hang out here.

(Then again, that fact that those other forums seem for the most part not even to exist says something, too. )
And the fact of Trek's inspiration being mentioned in the media over the years.

I think even now I am being inspired though not consciously. I return again and again to TOS. There are heroes who go about wanting to do good. (Plus good acting and sometimes good writing.)

It is not all dark and ambiguous, though I was a huge fan of Breaking Bad. I don't know if I'll ever rewatch it.
