Nice episode. Am I to assume the decoy shuttle that was destroyed by the Klingons is supposed to replace the original (i believe) scripted scene of holographic ships projected from the Enterprise?

I appreciate reading feedback from professionals. I find it very educational. Generally speaking, I'd like to see more of it in the future.

In general terms, yes. The "duplicates" were just described as "Xon's electronic manuever" which relied on K'Sia linking minds with Ilia...and it still left a dozen ships chasing the Enterprise to the Homeworld. (referencing "Writer's Work Draft" dated Jan 1978)

The end of the second act was Kirk beaming down (with two Klingon guards) and issuing orders to Decker to "implode the engines" rather than surrender the ship. This seemed more dramatic.

I appreciate reading CONSTRUCTIVE feedback from everyone. Generally, I find TOS fans know TOS much better than professionals...so they each have a forte to contribute.

I found Vic and Pony to be the most engaging characters in the story. When either of them was on screen, it came alive for me. Kudos! Really great work.

So where is it....

EDIT: found this:

To all our fans...

It is with much regret that we must delay the release of "The Holiest Thing" due to issues beyond our control. As many of you know, we've shown a pre-release version of it at The Alamo Draft House Theater and will be showing the same version this weekend in Boskone.

We are now down to the wire, and due to the inclement weather, our colorist is still without power and unable to complete the rest of the work on the episode. We have passed the point of no return where he simply doesn't have the time to finish his work (even if his power were to be restored right at this moment).

As soon as he can get back up and running, and we have a time frame for the completion of the post production work, we'll let you all know and post a new release date.

Our sincere apologies,
The Star Trek Phase II Team

Re: Star Trek: Phase II - "Kitumba" Officially Released!

Finally saw this. Technically impressive (I especially liked the unstable-looking Praxis in the Klingon sky), but the story ran out of momentum once they reached Kronos.

I'm also disappointed that what began as a "real" Phase II (as in, the unmade 1970's sequel series) episode was turned into ENT-TOS-TNG Klingon continuity porn. I wanted to see what was originally planned for the Klingons before their TMP/TNG re-imaginings. I like my fanfic to ask "what if...?" rather than to connect the dots.

Re: Star Trek: Phase II - "Kitumba" Officially Released!

What a great episode. Good pacing. Good use of supporting and guest characters. Very interesting story and fantastic graphics with a lot of really nice touches.

The fist fight at the end put me in mind of a 1960s Batman fight. I was expecting a few POWS and THWAPPs. But now that I think about it - that's not a bad thing!

It also was nice to see a mix of Klingon men and women both imperial and augmented but I also wish that it was possible to include more female Enterprise crew. I miss Chapel and Rand and it makes me sad that Ilia's role in the opriginal story gets handed over a yet another dude. It was great fun to see Peter take one for the team in the bar though.

Very well done to everyone involved.

Thanks! Everyone on the crew - pre, shoot and post production worked their butts off on this one!

Rand appears in "Bread and Savagery". Chapel was cast but she morphed into a Danish scientist who is a product of Nazi genetic engineering. Not sure what's happened since last June, but you never know who's going to show up! (Ilia was changed because it's established by canon that she is not on the Enterprise until TMP.)

Re: Star Trek: Phase II - "Kitumba" Officially Released!

Found it very enjoyable to watch (for some reason I can watch this much more than the actual TOS show).

One of my favorite lines was when Kirk asks Peter to be a distraction and he just sort of glare Then when he returns saying he should get a reward or something like that: lol: (I'll admit my laugh for it is that I'm assuming that the character is still gay and thus unconformable for two reasons)
