'Evil' inventions

OK, folks see if you can come up with a more evil invention than this.

Bubble wrap that doesn't pop? Ingenious!

I used to pop it at work, especially when I was waiting for equipment to be ready to use. And then my boss peeked in, thinking something was shorting out. He smiled when he saw what I was doing, then realized that his opening the door meant I had to start waiting all over again (I was waiting for the air to calm down, I couldn't have a lot of air movement, so opening the door....).

I looked around (Snopes etc) to make sure this unpoppable bubblewrap is for real. It seems to be.

I can't think of any situation in which bubblewrap would need to be unpoppable.

Now it can be reused more easily as it's less prone to being ruined. Better for the environment, I'd think.

Unpoppable bubble wrap? That's—diabolical!

The devil's in the details regarding whether it's better for the environment, as that would depend on what kind of plastic it is, what that entails during manufacturing, and how it behaves if it is thrown away.

But, yeah, it could conceivably easily be better for the environment, simply due to its reusability.

If it's made from the same plastic as regular bubble wrap, then that would be ingenious.

By thrown away, I meant not recycled. By thrown away, I meant winding up as litter or in a landfill.

Point is that it's easy to recycle. Just needs a good rinsing and sterilization.

^Yes, I understood you.

My point is that a lot of people wouldn't save the wrap.

All they have to do is stick it in the blue bin.

That reminds me of how Santa Claus would bring me socks and underwear. Totally not fun.

Although I can see the child care uses - okay kids, once you pop all this bubble wrap, you can have all the junk food you want.

Sadly, this is not true everywhere.

My town has no recycling service. If I want to recycle anything, I have to drive it to recycling center, 20 minutes away from my house, in another state.

Not all of your States recycle. Surprising in 2014, but true.

I have indeed received the unpoppable bubble wrap in the past. It made me wish I had bought that Japanese infinite bubble wrap toy that was all over the web a few years ago.

I have nothing else to contribute.
