Re: Sherlock - Series 3

Loved it.
But I had to put subtitles on because I could not make out what was being said a lot of the time.
I'm I going deaf or did anyone else have this problem?

No, it's a different show this season. Hopefully more Sherlocky next week...
Vindicated !

A great episode which pulled together what turned out to be a three part story.

Yeah, I had loads of trouble with some of the dialogue, but I'm getting that with some shows. I'm starting to think it's me...

I loved the episode and Sherlock's solution was the only way out... i was left disappointed by the cliffhanger but that may be due to an appearance earlier in the episode by you know who...

Well all the Sherlock fans have broken Tumblr
I'm not sure about seeing Moriarty again.

Was that Moffat's son?

There's been muttering that Matt Smith will be in the show in the future.

I wonder if he could be the 'other' Holmes brother mentioned in tonights show ?

Great ending to the series, very abrupt way to deal with CAM but typically Sherlock-manic-ness, and I did chuckle at the ending.

I saw that Moffat said that Matt would be interested if it were the right role. (Which serves, I think, to disprove the fan theory that Matt left Doctor Who because of a falling out with Moffat.)

He might make a good Stanley Hopkins, the best of the Scotland Yard inspectors and the one closest to Holmes in intellect. What if Sherlock had to work an investigation with someone who was just as good as him?

The other choice that would fit Matt -- and it's a very off-beat choice -- would be A.J. Raffles, the thief. No, Raffles doesn't appear in the Canon, but Raffles was created by Arthur Conan Doyle's brother-in-law (so there's a connection). Sherlock isn't that Canonical anyway, so I don't see an issue with bringing in a character like Raffles from outside the Canon.

I have no problem with it since I couldn't buy Moriarty killing himself. There's no way to control events after he's dead. It is an idiotic plan. I had thought that actor was an impersonator for the real Moriarty, may still be a front for Moriarty, but that he'd really kill himself as part of his plan, no.

The episode was OK, Mary turns out to have been working for Mr Smith? At least Remo Williams and Chun would have made it look like an accident.

sighs...

Moriarity's back, but honestly what has he done that made the whole country so terrified of him that they think, "Sherlock Holmes is the only person in the country who can stop him, lets get Sherlock back 4 minutes after exiling him"?

Re: Sherlock - Series 3

Is he really back though? All we saw was an animated face and a sound clip. It could just as easily be an associate of his using his image to frighten the public.

Hey, it's a theory. Hopefully we'll find out in a year or so.

So really Sherlock's interference just made the situation worse, otherwise Mary could have killed CAM and that would have been that. Having said that, a show where the world's greatest detective has to murder his opponents to 'win' maybe needs a rewrite.

Re: Sherlock - Series 3

That was far better than the other two episodes this year. Wasn't a massive fan of the cliffhanger, I was thinking that it could just be an associate too, but the scene after the credits was Moriarty himself not just an image, so that makes me think that they are going to bring him back (twin brother perhaps?).

Not sure about that. If they do bring him back then the end of season 2 just seems like a waste really. If they do bring him back they probably won't explain how he faked blowing his brains out, they'll just let the fans come up with theories and then film a few of those and say, 'take your pick'.
