But why don't we men get to keep the tall boots for anything but costuming? Even our dressy boots are only ankle length. Yet women can wear tall, knee-length boots in almost any situation. Somehow, it doesn't seem fair. Tall boots are cool.
Then why don't you just get a pair and start wearing them to your everyday and formal activities? Somebody has to be the first one to get a fashion trend going!

Bikers. Goths. There's some menz who have knee length boots.

Really though, just go for it.

Of course you can't just wear the boots - you need the rest of the outfit to really set it off:

"Foppish"? But back then, that's what MEN wore! Manly, masculine men!

Tattoos can be mostly removed nowadays, and except the most extreme stuff like stretching and flesh tunnels, most piercings will heal with minimal or no scar.

For about 7000 years, on the job footwear consisted of mid-calf to knee-high boots for men
I doubt it, since boots are at most 3000 years old.

Some time in the last 200 years, women appropriated the tall boot as a fashion statement, and men were forced to rely on ankle-length laced boots. Today, women wear tall boots sometimes daily, with some women having enough pairs to go a week or more without wearing the same pair twice, but if a man wears tall boots, he either must be in some kind of costume, even if its a competition costume, say dressage, or gay and looking for some action. Men, it seems, are not allowed to wear the tall boots that used to define a man who worked hard out of doors.

My question is, how did this happen?
I don't know, but I weep for the poor men who are stripped of their god-given right to wear boots.

Are boots the right footwear when wearing a catsuit, especially a skin tight catsuit? But then, what would be the correct type of footwear? I confess that I don't remember ever looking at the feet of a catsuit wearer....

Re: Catsuits/unitards in our future?

Most of the catsuit costumes I've seen had boots, either separately or built-in. Seven always had high heels, which I thought was a bit sadistic of the Doctor to have done to her.

Still, that's more of a risk than I'm willing to take, which should not surprise you in the least. Any decorations on my body are going to be on clothes (for further review, check my avatar), not flesh.

Although I admit it would be funny to get a tattoo that said "If found, please drop in nearest mailbox".

The Doctor was worried that Seven's raging self-confidence problems would be exacerbated by the fact that she's only 3 inches taller than both Janeway and Torres.

Walking around all day in stripper shoes seemed the obvious solution.

And it was actually in the convention program book that peanut butter costumes were not allowed in the hotel pool area. Apparently somebody caused a huge mess the year before, and the concom wanted to make sure after that that everyone knew peanut butter costumes are a Bad Idea.
The Great Turd of the Galaxy. Yep. Ask Richard Arnold, Bjo Trimble or David Gerrold about him some day.

There was also the naked woman in only a large bow, with a gift tag that read, "I'm a birthday present for David Gerrold."

Nothing wrong with that. I don't have any tattoo or piercing myself. I was just teasing you.

Re: Catsuits/unitards in our future?

I'm thinking I'll never get a tatt now. I thought about it for years but I think I'm fond of my unmarked flesh. Apparently 1 in 7 Australians have tattoos, we are one of the most tattooed nations and that's all ages.. most people I know have one.

I'll never get a catsuit either!

But, I'll take the boots
