First Contact Jeep Thing

In the first few shots of earth we see half of some sort of vehicle. Does anyone know what it is?

Haha. Of course. But is it an actual surplus vehicle they used for filming, or did they custom build it? Or maybe it's just the back end and there is no front.

"Hey, Jon, remember that little movie you made a few years ago? Good, there is the rear end of a vehicle in one of the scenes. Do you remember what vehicle that is?"

Eh that might be a bit long for a tweet.

It was Zee's getaway car for when Lily started nagging.

Is it even a truck or just something with a wheel or barrel next to it?

Looks like some kind of farming vehicle.

I think what you're seeing is the rear wheel and fender of this.

Zeframe Cochrane drinking? Don't be silly. He doesn't even have wheels. Not yet, anyway.

You can also see it during the final pullback at the end of the film. I always notice it because the different elements that make up that effects shot drift out of alignment just a little bit.

Perhaps it was the Patrick Stewart's Jeep.

Re: First Contact Jeep Thing

Thanks for those other screen caps. I think it's clear that as is it's not a real world military vehicle. At least not any I'm familiar with. It just looks like a kit bash. I think the vehicle Maurice posted is the same thing. A few elements look different, but a lot looks the same. I'll have to rewatch the film and be on the look out for the "Jeep Thing."
