Wiki is not quite right about Jeri. She's not German nationality. Her dad was in the US military in Germany; her family's American. She graduated from Northwestern U a few miles up the road from us here. When her dad retired from the military, they moved to Paducah, KY, which is just over the border from Illinois. There are a lot of Paducahns in Chicago.

I love how wikipedia's become this "trusted" one-stop-shop for everybody's information needs! Someone on here was talking about how Jeri Ryan's husband may have been "mean" to her ... treated her cruely and ... and so forth. May Allah be pleased to disprove our fears. Funny, though, how even Celebrities who are so far "above" us, fall prey to the very same Human failings we all do. I may not find her to be the sexiest woman of STAR TREK, but I didn't mind her as Seven of Nine. She was allowed to be very charming, instead of whorish, which I can't see making it past the discussion phase of any studio making a show, these days.

I personally think her attractiveness was overstated. She has a nice body but those huge German bug-eyes just don't do it for me.
Whut?

I don't know what ethnicity Jeri Ryan is, but Annika Hansen is Swedish. And she is NOT bug-eyed.

I think Jennifer Lien is a very attractive pixie, however. I love her in that little bob cut of hers, especially.
I didn't like her voice.
I can't stand her voice.

Re: Did You Like Seven Of Nine?

She sounds like she's constantly putting on a holier than thou, I am so sweet voice. When I hear people talking like that IRL I think they are totally fake or full of themselves. Now character wise I give Kes a pass because she's an alien and I know the voice was supposed to be her "full of wonder" voice.. but it makes my skin crawl.

Yup on Kes Her scream was even worse.

But Seven was supposed to sound arrogant. The Borg thing and all...

I never had a problem with Kes's voice.
Seven was wonderfully arrogant, but we know that she could switch that off and do something different. One of my favorite Seven moments was when she was possessed by the Doctor, and she nailed his personality perfectly. It's funny how that was the most feminine she ever was too.

Re: Did You Like Seven Of Nine?

AHAHAHHAHA.. so true, "most feminine" when the EMH possessed her.

OH dear, so much to be derived from that..

Kirk looks really sweaty, like he's just used on all his sexual mojo on some passing alien pirate captains wife already...

Good luck.

Re: Did You Like Seven Of Nine?

I love the lighting being so TOS!

Thanks for posting it here Greg, I don't wander down to Treklit too often. What's the publishing date?

That's why I figured it couldn't hurt to spread the word here. The book is due out February 25, 2014, just a few months from now.

(I just made some final, final, final, final corrections this afternoon. Changing "hit" to "hint," that kind of of thing.)

And some people say typos and misspellings don't matter... I can think of a lot of different scenarios where mixing those two words up could lead to a great deal of trouble!

Tell me about it!

My favorite typo story: Years ago, I wrote a Batman story where Batman swings down and saves a brilliant female scientist from a diabolical deathtrap. What I thought I wrote was: "'Hang on!' Batman said."

What actually saw print was: "'Hang out!' Batman said."

Which made him a good deal groovier than I intended.

Re: Did You Like Seven Of Nine?

But isn't Batman (at least the '60s version) supposed to be groovy? (or something not-ordinary; I was too young in the '60s to really understand a lot of the slang that was used at the time)

One of my own mistakes I won't ever forget was when I had to write a short story in one of my English classes. We were assigned to include certain elements or scenes chosen by our classmates, and my story ended up being about two brothers who were having an argument. What one intended to call the other was a "big, over-stuffed shirt."
