When TNG appeared i thought the D's saucer was round - like the original TOS Enterprise. Took me a LONG time to figure out the correct shape.

Until I saw the set plans, I thought the shiny bridge in Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness was circular when in fact it's an oval.

For me, two things...

1. I'm probably the only one here, but I used to think Spock didn't speak when I was quite young.

2. Before I started watched TNG regularly, I thought the D got a new first officer after the first season

Search4 obviously means circular.
sau·cer (sôsr)n.1. A small shallow dish having a slight circular depression in the center for holding a cup.
2. An object similar in shape to a saucer.

Saucers do not have to be round or circular to fit this definition. Well, it has a slight circular depression for holding a cup, but I've seen some saucers and cups that are not round or circular.

It was not actually designed as a super phaser, just rerigged for that ep.

When I was young, TNG and VGR would air around the same time. I thought Picard had retired and Janeway was the new Captain of the Enterprise.

I thought that Enterprise-D's deflector dish was a "super phaser" even before TBOBW.
When the deflector is used in "The Best of Both Worlds" it does remind you of the wave motion gun from Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato).

Well, if you discount that the deflector dish effect was LAME. It looked like a tinkerbell magic sparkly ray compared to the Wave Motion weapon in that clip.

the TOS command shirts were a green-gold. Television has never been known for its color integrity. (TV engineers jokingly say that NTSC stands for "never the same color." However, the material of those shirts was partly responsible for the color ambiguity.)
It always intrigues me that one of the fundamentals of Star Trek production design -- that the 'classic' trio of uniform colors is gold, blue and red -- was actually a result of error, but it's now transcended into fictional "fact" (even though TOS-R has gone some way now to 'correcting' the error as far as TOS itself was concerned, showing the original 'command green' as it was always supposed to look).

I think people would go a bit crazy if the next incarnation of Star Trek suddenly said, 'No, it's actually green, blue and red'.

Re: Things you got "wrong"

I was under the impression, at least until I googled it, that Star Trek began in 2009. Little did I know that they actually had films and shows made before that.
