I am not sanguine about crossovers, myself ...
Whilst I wouldn't have wanted to see other Trek series characters on VOYAGER, with regularity, it would've been great to see more STAR TREK actors from every series, fleshing out the guest star roster.

Agreed, I would rather have seen more of the actors.

We did get Jeffery Combs though!

Jim Daly died in 1978.

Sad.

Seems like there did need to be some recasting.

Here's the thing.

Jim had a kid called Tim.

Tim is some what of a big deal in some circles.

Legacies are cool.

Yeah, I would have preferred Majel as a completely new character rather than rehashing Lwaxana again. Same with Dwight Schultz, he has much more range than doing Barclay all the time.
