Games like Earth and Beyond?

I was wondering if there is any games either mmo or browser that is like Earth and Beyond? I am playing with my father and his computer is a 2006 work comp, it can't handle but simple games like Earth and Beyond. The basics of the games are space travel, trade and combat, though just space and trade is fine. I've tried looking on my own but since I am not a gamer by large I just don't know all the games available both past and present.

Try the X series. Info here.

You could also be oldschool and look for Elite or Elite+.
