I'm amazed (and a little disturbed) that the hologram gets so many votes. It's a hologram. Knowledge isn't worth a damn without human instinct and judgment.
The EMH came up with more treatments on the fly to save lives than basically any of the other Trek doctors. So I'd say the instinct and judgment is there, human or not.

Crusher has the best bedside manner imo. They're all far better than any doctor I've ever seen in real life, so their skill levels should be close enough for my needs.
Now, Julian is the one I crush hardest on, and McCoy would make the best husband. Phlox would want to cure me by sticking alien worms up my butt or something, so no thanks.
Beverly would make me feel most comfortable and at ease.

Bashir. The only medical officer I ever saw on Trek who refused to do that ridiculous "wake him up" business.

Dr. Pulaski should have been listed on this poll. She is NOT 2nd string by any means. Muldaur's character was on for a full season, therefore she is not a "guest doctor" either.

Obviously, Dr. Pulaski gets my vote as the doctor I would most want to work on me.

I chose the EMH.

According to Voyager, that guy could heal practically anything.

Haha! The -instinct- sure is there.... and well... lack of judgment can be quite human.

^I couldn't blame him for it anyway, it could of been worse. Data's first day with emotions got Geordi kidnapped which got the ship destroyed.

That was his -second- day. His first day ended up with Geordi kidnapped and experimented on.

Re: Poll: Which doctor would you want to work on you?

Let's see...

Not McCoy. I don't want a doctor who says, "A little suffering is good for the soul." I want a doctor who says, "You may have some residual pain from this procedure for a few days, so here's a prescription for a shitload of Oxycontin."

Definitely not Phlox! I don't want a doctor who might say, "You know, I could save you, but maybe according to the Cosmic Plan you're supposed to die."

The rest are pretty much a toss-up. So, I guess I'll just go to the second poll thread and vote for Ogawa, just because I have a thing for Asian women. That's a sound basis for making a medical decision, right?

^Ogawa does work under Beverly (if it sounds like I'm on a Beverly promoting crusade... you're probably right ).

You say this as if the human doctors were depicted as more competent or intelligent in any way than the hologram.
The contrary is true. The Doctor was shown as the professional/intellectual (and physical) superior of mere meat brains.

^ And since the EMH is programmed with the knowledge and experience of hundreds - if not thousands - of real doctors, then by definition he already HAS their instinct and judgment.
