So Ive kept up on all the different Star Trek books what are peoples thought on Voyager being sent back to the Delta Quantrant to search for what may remain of the Borg?

Re: Voyager Books

Though kind of stupid as far as real life goes I think it provides what a lot of readers want out of Voyager books. Books that take place in the setting of the tv show, with the crew and ship.

And the Borg deal is interesting, post Destiny.

I just feel kind of sorry for them to all be back there LOL.

Re: Voyager Books

The recent novels by Kirsten Bayer have been superb - somewhat better than the TV show IMHO. Any fan of Voyager should read Full Circle.

This topic would probably be better in the Treklit forum though...

The Eternal Tide had the greatest plot line since the last chapters of the gospels.

I really enjoy the relaunch altough there is WAY too much crying in them, seriously i can't remember them crying on the show but it's every few pages in the books

other than that, fantastic

Re: Voyager Books

Totally agree on the crying Infern0, but the books (as in, Trek relaunch) have been full of aggravating angst that doesn't really work for a long time. I just kind of skip those bits.

Eternal Tide is my favorite for the obvious reasons.

I'm not too fond of the recent books. Too many good characters are missing.

But Janeway is back and that's at least something positive.

Re: Voyager Books

I think one of my favorite moments in these books was when
Tom comes aboard voyager and gets on the Comm and says this is Lt.Commander Thomas Eugene Paris assuming command by order of Admiral Kathreen Janeway

Re: Voyager Books

The Eternal Tide was indeed awesome. It felt like a huge event.

As for the Voyager books, the premise is a little goofy (after all that effort to get home they go back?!?) but dammit, it's Star Trek and Star Trek is a little goofy and anyone who tries to deny it takes the show way too seriously. It's awesome to read what happened "next" - Kirsten Beyer definitely has the characters down.

Well, at least it's better than "Fury" and the scenario there. No humiliation and destruction of the character and I'm very happy for that.

But I must admit that it isn't the scenario I would like to have. No matter how good written the books are, they can never be compared to the books written during seasons 1, 2 and 3. At least not for me.

With the current scenario in the Voyager books, I think that I would have appreciated the books a lot more if there had been a new ship with new characters who were exploring the Delta Quadrant.
