Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

I imagine in the long run a lot of them will cave and accept the expanded funding if they don't publicly want to. When enough of their citizens see that the ACA isn't some forced internment camp with leeches and mandatory amputations and they start clammoring for expanded Medicaid services under the new rules then many of these dickheaded Republican governors who generally sympathize with the Tea Party will change their minds out of political necessity.

Accept funding, or get themselves and their party voted out of power.

Wow, did TNZ reach it's bandwidth limit or something and this is why we're getting the overflow here?

Kirk, it'll be okay. I'm still navigating my options. Turns out my dad hasn't been claiming me like I thought. And he should've been for at least the last three years if not the past five. But that doesn't qualify me for Medicaid if his income is looked at and why I've paid my own health insurance all this time. But I see there are options that will let me keep my doctor.
I'm glad things are looking up for you, Peach.

The poster who started the thread wasn't a TNZ member, so it makes sense to start it here.

Misc. can be an appropriate place to discuss even political topics provided everything is civil and no one tries to bait other posters into getting warnings. There have been people who have come close (and people who have gotten warnings), but there's been some informative discussion here too about the mechanics of the Affordable Care Act. It's an undeniably complex law that most people don't know a lot about, so it's good to be better informed so you can understand your rights and obligations under it and just how it will benefit you (for many, many Americans, it'll benefit directly. For others, the intended benefits are indirect in slowing the increase in health care costs).

I agree although his opinion on ACA is relevant since similar sentiments have been why it's been so difficult to reform the healthcare system in the US over the years.

ACA isn't Universal Health Care. Not by a long shot.
That's true but it's enough to get a foot in the door for much better reforms and to prove that the country won't turn into a post apocalyptic mad max hellscape despite what some say.

True I wish states weren't allowed to refuse it, unfortunately in my home state (WI) is doing just that making it hard for people to get any coverage if they fall in an income gap.

The whole blog entry is a string of utter untruths, that's how.

First, if the woman was so broke that she could only afford one or the other, she'd have the option of food stamps, that can only be used to buy food, and which couldn't be spent on healthcare.

Second, it's been well established in this very thread that there are safeguards built into ACA itself to provide for people who are that kind of broke.

The whole blog entry is a string of utter untruths.

I disagree. People are finding out all over the country that their premiums will triple, just like the guy in the OP article. Obamacare was meant to break the middle class. Their will be many job losses over this as employers will have to lay off people or cut their hours. It is imperative that Obamacare not be funded. Hopefully patriots like Ted Cruz will succeed in his effort.

Vladimir Lenin: “Socialized Medicine is the Keystone to the Arch of the Socialist State.”

Lenin and all socialists knew that once the state controlled healthcare that socialism would become easy.

The American people need to think seriously about this, we are standing on the edge of the cliff. Do you want individual freedom or do you want to be a ward of the state?

It's basically free money: the federal government offering the states funds to give, in turn, to the people who need it. In theory, democracy is what's supposed to prevent the states from refusing it, since it is so clearly against the interests of the states to do so. Unfortunately, conservative misinformation is so rampant these days that they can operate in a fact-free zone and not get punished for it.
