Re: Kate Mulgrew - Orange is the New black

btw as I have been on tumblr too long I feel constrained to point out that I did not intend my little jibe about grandma getting slash suggestions from her google+ circle to be ageist. I am quite aware that K/S, the genesis of the great genre of slash originated with wonderful women who are quite likely grandmas now.

Doesn't it make you just want to give her a BIG hug?

I posted Kaffe's Videos on Tumblr. I have no idea if I did it correctly or how people see them. I dodn't even have a name for my "blog" or whatever...I know nothing.. I posted to a few other blogs but they are in "lala(moderation) land" at the moment.

I could be a great grandmother..I am a great aunt..several times over.

Congrats all... today we surpassed the last hurdle on the all time views for Voyager to get on the "first page"... the top "28" topics.

And to celebrate... here's a little Mulgrew talking about... KOVE!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ8ARu-Azd0

I like the comment about the 53rd glass of wine!

Check out this next OitNB link.

http://boingboing.net/2013/09/27/exc...the-new-b.html

I like the Yoga Jones "Ghost" the best. (I mistook the Poussey ghost for Miss Claudette. )

I will be hit or miss on the thread next week due to a working conference I must attend.

Here's hoping everyone will keep the Trekkbbs Up To Date on all things Orange...

and Black...

and Red.

Okay... as Teacake already pointed out, the fashion mavens may be in a minority in this thread... but what about the handbag aficionados?

Its so funny to "hear" Suzanne's voice come out of the beautiful Uzo Aduba's face.

And more Uzo...

Natasha Lyonne discusses the new teen comedy she's in.

http://www.vancouversun.com/entertai...547/story.html

This last link is another interview from early July.

I miss this type of interview article on OitNB... where we actually hear some insight into a character/process and don't merely read a clone of a clone of a clone of a blurb that was tossed at someone with a microphone while walking into/out of an "event".

http://www.wwd.com/eye/people/natash...served-7047662

See what I mean...

But Lyonne is quick to acknowledge Nicky’s dimension and the depth of feeling masked by that off-the-cuff witticism. “In those reservoirs of pain that come with being that self-destructive, also comes this buoyancy and survival that comes from what it’s like to come out on the other side. I feel lucky to be able to inform the character with that degree of honesty.

I'm off to conference... but before I go, just one request.

If anyone is attending the 2013 Paleyfest panel on OitNB next week in NYC... since we know they WON'T /CAN'T answer any season 2 questions directly, consider asking this question.

"For a show that is celebrated for its diversity, do you think its fair that in the last month the religion of one of your fellow actors has been attacked throughout the internet and even on her twitter account, in the belief that her religious leaders are interfering with this show?"

Whose religion? What leaders? How did they interfere?

So embarrassed. Pretty sure this is an admission on my part to not reading this thread carefully enough.

Re: Kate Mulgrew - Orange is the New black

I was in the middle of a dream where I was on stage about to launch into a karaoke solo when the phone rang early this morning.

Anyway.. to actually be tangentially on topic I have been watching Weeds because of the Orange connection. Had seen only one ep before. Now in Season 5 and am honestly only watching it for Celia at this point as the rest of it is alternately boring me and enraging me. I hope that the second season of Orange doesn't do that whole spinning out of control in our ever increasingly hard to get out of plot enormities.. like I know we can figure out how Piper won't end up shipped off and imprisoned for years after beating the crap out of Pennsatucky. Corruption, that fixes that plot hole. I just hope it doesn't end up with more and more "this would NEVER happen" moments or even worse ZANINESS. Please Orange, do not descend into zaniness.

On the up side Orange is definitely a huge cut above Weeds writing/observations wise.

Also, WHAT DOES THE JOKE MEAN. Someone, give me a run down on the significance and use of it in Orange.

And Kaffe deserves INTERNET CELEBRITY for her vids
If someone wants to pay me for that celebrity, fine

I don't think it's actually a real joke but I found this on reddit..

"So a penguin and a farmer walk into a bar. The penguin starts eating the tiny fancy drink umbrellas. The Bartender says to the Farmer, "Hey, your eggplant's gotta pay for those." And so the Penguin says "Dude, he's not an eggplant, he's retarded."

Not that I get it but.. There are several versions floating around.

And I just realised that it doesn't match what she's saying, never mind.

In Oitnb, red says:

"So the third time, same thing happens. So the farmer looks at his wife, then back at the penguin and finally the penguin goes: He's not an eggplant, man, he's retarded."

Later when she goes back to the "ladies"...

".. and the penguin goes, he's not an eggplant. He's retarded. It's fucking funny!"

And it gets so tedious privatizing everything, if you can even figure out how to do it.
Yep, it's horrible. Especially the youtube/google thing.. I mean come on, let us have some privacy. One of the reasons I'm not that in to social medias anymore.

Thank you all for the kind words of my videos! Kind of overwhelmed that people liked it so much. I now have over 4000 views combined (according to youtube)

And thanks to delenn13 I now have tags and descriptions on them Plus a link to this thread, so maybe we can get some traffic here aswell!

Re: the scientology/prepon thing: That's terrible if some other "influence" is keeping her from playing the role. I mean, she obviously doesn't have a problem with it and I can't imagine netflix not wanting to keep her on.
