A very interesting idea. The thought of biographies (Kirk, Spock, etc) had occured to me, but for some reason, not memoirs. I like it though.
I like it as well. Could be interesting.

Err, that's what the first six even-numbered chapters of TRW were supposed to be -- Terise's actual monograph on Rihannsu history. So you've already read that.
D'oh! Apparently not closely enough. I thought I remembered them as being excerpts of a larger work, or something like that. My mistake.

And maybe some day I'll read I, The Jury just for the heck of it.
Which episodes/books/whatever are those from?

Well, maybe they were meant to be excerpts, but they seemed to be pretty continuous from chapter to chapter and to make a complete work in and of themselves. And many historical monographs are much shorter than novel length. So I figure it's probably meant to be Terise's whole work, interspersed with chapters portraying the background of how the work came to exist.

No wonder you found RaD to be an excellent read! If I'd have known what your baseline was...

"Meditations..." is the book Garak gives to Julian in The Wire. It's a story set in the future, where Cardassia and Qo'noS are at war.

And Miles loaned Odo a copy of the (real) novel "I, The Jury" which he is seen reading in Profit and Loss.

Which may be the only indication in canonical ST that people in the future still read science fiction.

If I knew they'd have to take the time to read it, I would.

I bet some of Scotty's technical journals would make interesting reading.

Also, Chicago Mobs of the Twenties.

^ Well, that came out in 1992, so you should be able to find a copy...
