Uh, no. Do we need to do again the "atheism is not a religion" stuff, only with a slightly different slant?

Einstein's theory that "Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another"
Try a few centuries before him. Leibniz was the first to postulate the idea of conservation of energy (which he called vis viva) in the 17th century.

"What happens after death?"?? Most people think you either go to heaven or hell, but in truth you go to Fargo, North Dakota.

Re: What Happens After Death

I think the closest anyone can do is fathom, you can't be sure what happens after life until your dead. That said, this is only a theory. With my previous post in mind think 4th dimensionally. The electrical current created at the point of birth to the day you die IS you, moving about on a 4th dimensional plane unconstricted by reality. That's this agnostics point of view at least.

Re: What Happens After Death

My cells will chemically break down, be absorbed and processed by other life forms, mostly bacteria.
My molecules will be carried into the world, my atoms will become part of nature, millions of animals and plants, maybe even humans, until they die.
Eventually, with some luck, our sun's death will blow my atoms into interstellar space where they drift for eons, combine with interstellar dust clouds that collapse into stellar bodies ignite stars and form new worlds where the process begins a new and billions of years from now some alien life form, that juuust maybe is made with an old atom of mine, will think about what happens after death...

That, my friends, is immortality.

Einstein's theory that "Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another" and the way thought patterns are formed (electrical) has always kept me open minded to an afterlife.
I've heard this a lot, but I'm afraid that if you talk to any physicist they can explain better than I that this is not what conservation of energy means. It is not about any kind of life force or the energy of thought patterns. In fact, the conservation of energy helps to disprove the claim that a spirit or soul leaves the body upon death as energy, because if it did, then it could be measured. As iguana said, this doesn't disprove life after death, it just can't be used as evidence for life after death.

^What I'm saying couldn't be measured, unless there is an anti-time scanner I'm unaware of.

Re: What Happens After Death

What happens to the body after things die isn't what I'm getting at. It's the completed circuit of the energy produced by a body. I am Agnostic though. I believe that as much as I believe nothing happens, or if some guy in front of a pearly gate asks me to list my good deeds, or if I reincarnate into a moose equivalent of me.

Again, there is no unaccounted for energy at the point of death, this is something that is measurable. I don't know what you're talking about with the anti-time thing...

I'm just saying that the law of the conservation of energy doesn't do anything to prove any kind of afterlife, including reincarnation. Nor does it disprove them, it's just completely irrelevant.

^Is that why everyone was someone famous in their past life? Because they're all the same soul?
