Um, downloading what?
Gee, what forum was this posted in?
RAMA, you've been making a habit lately of starting threads with posts which are either cryptic (as this one) or consist only of a title and link. That needs work.

You should at least make it clear what the thread is about and (preferably) offer some comment of your own as a place for discussion to begin; it shouldn't have to fall to someone else to explain your topic for you.

What you should not do is act like a dick toward someone who's only asking you what your thread is about.

I thought it was major, well-known news that STID will be available early for download. Did I really need to clarify this on a STID forum that includes tons of DVD-Bluray news? Apparently so...

Re: Who's downloading this early?

I don't mind admitting I'm a really picky snob when it comes to AV quality, so HD or not, a download won't compete with the BD. The UK release date is the 02nd September, so I can definitely wait to immerse myself in the movie on my set up at home with the real deal.

DLed it off Itunes in SD quality--I'm a cheapskate. Quality is better than I expected for SD. Haven't watched the Extras yet.

Re: Who's downloading this early?

I did the Best Buy preorder, which included the "making-of" segment for the filming of the Nibiru sequence when I ordered it, as well as a coupon toward seeing STID when it was still in theatres, the CinemaNow (their online movie service) download this past Tuesday and the BD/DVD combo pack on the day of release.

I didn't mind that deal at all, so I did that one. I've been watching the movie on my computer and iphone, and I'll be able to watch it in all its Blu Ray goodness on September 10!

got it from itunes. will buy the disk as well when it comes out. not sure what version yet. i think it stinks that certain versions contain different or additional bonus footage. makes it very confusing as to which one to buy.

Why download early? Goodness, it is only going to be about 2 weeks more and you can get a physical copy.

From the article:

There's no denying that the high definition presentation of this film looks absolutely beautiful - but this is the most confusing, exploitative release ever to bear the Star Trek name. While we can hope that Paramount one day puts out an "ultimate" edition of Star Trek Into Darkness with all of these additional features in one package, there doesn't seem to be much precedent for such a set, looking at their recent release strategies.

Re: Who's downloading this early?

I've reached a point where I'm pretty much over features. If there are some great if not... *shrug* I also am doing more and more digital releases as it means I don't have to keep track of discs.

Once my paycheck clears the bank I'll be getting it from amazon for 15 bucks which is quite decent.
