^First non-English accent? Sylvester McCoy might have something to say about that.

It's a big enough jump to have the first non English accent for a doctor,
Sylvester McCoy was Scottish and spoke with a Scottish accent when he played the Doctor.

EDIT: Damn, got ninja'd on the matter.

Not any more. They all declared independence and went off on their own.

Tennant's Accent is English? Sure sounds quite a bit like Scottish to my "less than trained ear"? Not as thick like Amy or McCoy, but, to me it definitely sounds quite similar to Scottish.

Tennant's natural accent is Scottish, Tennant's doctor accent is pure mockney!

??? He was talking about Capaldi, as far as I understood. Though we don't actually know yet what accent he'll used.

Tennant's own accent is Scottish but he adopted a what's sometimes called an 'Estuary English' or 'Mockney' (mock cockney) accent for DW.

Anyway, even if one were to regard Tennant's as a Non-English accent, McCoy was still first.

I thought Tennant's Doctor had an Estuary accent. Though I've heard that the lines between Cockney and Estuary are blurred.

Right, but, had I been correct, it meant he was forgetting not only McCoy (Which 2 of you already pointed out), but, also Tennant. Hard to believe he could forget Tennant, since he was such a short time ago.

So, am I hearing little bits of Tennant's natural accent bleeding through here and there, or mistaking some Mockney sounds as Scottish?

Re: 11th Doctor Costume Try-Outs

^I think in fairness, he wasn't forgetting Tennant, but wasn't counting him as a Scottish-accented Doctor, because Tennant didn't play him with a Scottish accent. If Capaldi uses his own Scottish accent (and we don't yet know that he will), he will be the second actor to do so and the first to do so since McCoy.

I'm Irish, so I'd have to yield to our English and Scottish posters on this one, but to me, for the most part, Tennant's DW accent sounded convincingly English and not at all Scottish. But English and Scottish posters may say otherwise.

LOL, yea, I know that now, but, at the time I suggested Tennant's Doctor also had a Scottish Accent, I believed it was Scottish, though simply less thick

Oh, didn't we get word a day or a few ago, that Capaldi was indeed using his Scottish Accent?

The other outfits made him look like the sort of offbeat male models they have in weekend fashion supplements in broadsheet newspapers.
Yes, but what's wrong with that? Why can't a space and time traveling alien look like an early 21st century male model? From an outsiders perspective that look is basically from the same place and time as the first Doctor's edwardian outfit.

I like the look with the striped shirt and white cuffs best, they should have picked that one. Maybe the 12th Doctor will get an outfit like that?

Sylvester McCoys natural accent is Scottish, but as the doctor he seemed to speak with at least a near English accent to me.

Really. He sounded a bit more English to me. He at least tamed his accent a bit.

David Tennant is Scottish, but his doctor put on an English accent.

But I'm terrible with accents, so if I'm wrong, please excuse me.
