That's beautiful. I have no idea what it is, but I like it.

Is it a hair pin/barrette of some sort?

Ah, no. It's a slje, a part of the bunad, which is the norwegian folk.. clothing.. Stuff. But this one isn't a real one, we were told to design our own.

My mom has a swarm of hummingbirds in her back yard every day. They don't care to stand still for long, but I finally got the shot.

I made my family take a short detour when we were in Montreux so I could see this statue.

Oh, that's the best? Have I mentioned before that you have the most beautiful smile?

As for me, dyed it! T'was a bitch finding a pink that'd stick.

Well, this is what happens when I'm away from home for a few days, I miss a lot of stuff!

Kestra, fantastic pic! I have one of me and the wax statue of Freddy from when I was in London a few years back:

Sort of got a bit into it...

Oh and tsq, you do know what to buttons to push. I am such a huge sucker for women with brightly dyed hair. But it certainly helps when the woman in question is so pretty to start with

Ruaidhri, fantastic wedding pics! You both look fantastic

One of my friends wore her bunad to my wedding in Austin umpteen years ago; it was lovely and particularly striking, especially since her husband came in a kilt.

I can confirm that TSQ's hair looks even better in person. And that she's as lovely and smart and sweet in real life as she is here.

I can also confirm that The Seeker and his wife are also lovely, and that their little girl is so cute and adorable they're lucky I didn't sneak off with her.
Awwww, thanks!

It was fabulous meeting you, though I'm afraid we may have bored your poor girl to death!
Nah, she's used to me rambling on with friends, and she also knew it was part of the package deal that came with her 16th birthday present. Actually, my daughter and I have long, rambling talks like that as well. She's a great young woman, and I'm a lucky mom.
You are lucky, and she is a wonderful girl. Patient too, no doubt about that!

Re: PICTURE POST II!

Finished this Star Trek ornament tonight!

There are two more to do. The Star Trek Cross Stitch book has the project as pillows, but I'd rather have them as ornaments for my Trek-mas tree.

I also made this necklace after finding the pendant while shopping:

Re: PICTURE POST II!

I can't sell them because I didn't design the chart. That would be stealing!

ETA- did you get my second PM, bbbailey? Disregard the first one.

What an amazing shot! We have a hummingbird that frequents our balcony feeder, but she is gone in the amount of time it takes me to call out "hey, she's back!" to Hubby. I'll never be able to get a shot like this! Well done!

Re: PICTURE POST II!

It isn't rare to see a handfull of them on the feeder at once. The males get a bit feisty with each other, but the females tend to be pretty live-and-let-live. Between the two feeders out there I've seen nearly a dozen at a time flitting about while I enjoy a drink out on the porch.
