Spock smiled in "The Cage," and when Uhura was singing to him in "Charlie X." And given his emotional epiphany in TMP, Spock smiling in the movie era isn't really out of character. The Fearful Summons has many, err, issues, but I wouldn't call that one of them.
It was just one thing that sprang to mind from the many 'issues'.

Yes, Spock does occasionally exhibit emotion, but this smile was a very ordinary thing without the slightest hint that it may have been in any way unusual.

Not the biggest issue with a thoroughly rotten book...

Re: News about early 2014 schedule

Probably won't be an early 2014 release, but it seems as if yet another eBook novella is coming. Scott Pearson tweeted the following today:

Happy to say I'm writing a new #StarTrek #eBook! & that my editor @simonschuster gave me OK to go public. Details to follow as declassified!

Why not? Paula Block was around Trek fanfic before most of us. One of her old fanfics (from the print zine Menagerie #14) was republished in the first "Strange New Worlds" collection, when she was one of the judges.

Why not?

Maybe because posting a link to a thread you just created in another threads stinks of processed meat that comes in a tin and has it's own museum dedicated to it.

Oh for goodness sake. I thought people in this 2014 schedule thread might have missed the post I just made elsewhere, so I added a link.

If trying to be helpful is "spam", then I'm guilty. Tell it to the Moderators. Forget it, I'll report myself. Do you want me banned for a few weeks or permabanned?

No need to be so melodramatic, if you wish to report yourself, go ahead.

As for posting in here and making a thread, maybe if you had left it a day or two to see how the thread panned out, you may have a point, leaving it a matter of minutes, nah, doesn't wash really does it.

How long have you been a Mod here?

It's not a case of "how the thread pans out"? At all. I was attempting to notify people who might be interested and, in the past, people have objected to links back to Facebook pages. In the past you have objected to me repeating the text of a post. (I thought linking to a thread, instead, might be more appropriate. If I hadn't done it, someone else would have, and I'd be admonished for starting a new thread instead of putting it in the 2014 thread.)

But is it really your business to keep me on the straight and narrow?

Okay, I was going to leave this alone since Daddy Todd actually brought the thread back on track but no such luck...

Therin and Dimesdan, I'm now asking both of you to leave this alone - I don't want any more discussion about this. Get back to discussing the 2014 schedule or leave the thread.

Re: News about early 2014 schedule

Well, one of the reasons I didn't put the announcement of Pearson's eBook in its own thread is because I thought that it would look silly to start a thread with no real info beyond what would be in the thread title (as so amply proven by Therin).

Anyway, as it seems that the eBook line is back on a more regular schedule, maybe it should get its own thread were such snippets could be posted?

ETA: Hadn't seen that there was a new site and that trampledamage had put a kibosh on the discussion.

Re: News about early 2014 schedule

Will there be enough information/discussion of the e-books that it'll take up too much space in this thread? To me, it's all part of the publishing schedule, so I think it's fine here - but if you'd rather discuss them separately, feel free to start a general e-book schedule thread.

That would be very nice to get an eBook only novella each month.

Actually, I did start a thread asking about the eBook only books that have not yet been printed. These announcements should also go in that thread or at least the links to the other threads. I was wanting to have all of the info in one place instead of all over the place. Please feel free to update.
