Travelers sounds interesting, except that it seems like it will be a "family" show.

Both of those could be cool. Hopefully the immortals show won't end just being a Highlander rip off.

ABC Wants To Develop TV Shows Based On 'Star Wars' Characters

as revealed over the weekend, you can also expect TV series based on characters from the Star Wars universe. No word yet on what characters Disney/ABC might be considering here either, so let the speculation begin.
ABC television executives are said to be planning TV shows based on characters from the Star Wars film franchise, according to the president of Disney's ABC Entertainment Group, Paul Lee.
Talking with reporters during an appearance at the Television Critics Association press tour this weekend, ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee said that ABC has “started conversations” with Lucasfilm over a potential Star Wars television series, adding “I have an inkling in my mind, but they have a lot on their plate.”

All of this remains entirely theoretical until ABC and Lucasfilm officially announce any potential partnership officially, of course.

so I thought this was not worthy of it's own thread since no specific news yet.

Cool. I wonder if they could be finally giving us Underworld, or if they'll decide to go in a new direction.

Pure scifi is flourishing in movies right now, I really hope 2-3 of those types of shows make it to air.

Everything we've heard of underworld wouldn't work with the family friendly image ABC and Disney have. Since Disney is less likely to make a show for another network then location lucasfilm was, I would guys the odds of ever seeing underworld are lower than ever.

CBS orders futuristic series from Steven Spielberg

CBS has given a straight-to-series order for Extant, a new serialized drama from Steven Spielberg that’ll bow next summer.

The network describes the project as a futuristic thriller about a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.

CBS ordered 13 episodes.
Fox Developing World War III Event Series

Fox has made a development deal for World War III, an apocalyptic event series from X-Men writer David Hayter and Hatfields & McCoys producer Leslie Greif of Thinkfactory Media. The network has ordered a script and a bible for World War III, in which a perfect storm of world events places us in the center of a global battle which may bring the world as we know it to an end. Hayter is writing and will serve as showrunner.

Is it wrong that I read this post and immediately assumed that it was about vampires vs. lycans?

That's what I thought, too. Apparently it's a Star Wars reference that I don't get.

Underworld was reported in 2012 as the working title of the Star Wars live-action TV series that Lucas has been developing for years but refusing to put into production because he couldn't acheive the visuals he wanted on a TV budget and he's become so spoiled by success that he's forgotten how to compromise. However, apparently that was a misunderstanding and it wasn't really being called that after all.

Ah, I didn't realize that title was a mistake.
As for ABC, not all of their shows are family friendly. I don't know if I'd call Revenge or Lost a family friendly show, and I doubt a show called Mistresses is particularly family friendly.

Yeah, I remember hearing about that now, but I think I can be forgiven for seeing the title Underworld and immediately thinking of Selene and Lucian . . . .

And, you know, an Underworld TV show, based on the movies, might not be a bad idea . . ..

Jason Carter (Ranger Marcus Cole from Babylon 5) has started a campaign for a pilot to shop his idea to studios. Not exactly sure what it's supposed to be, but it might interest someone: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/he...r-project-made

Now that I think of it, given the success of Space Command and Veronica Mars Kickstarter projects, I wonder why JMS hasn't gone that route to fund more B5.
