I really liked season 1 and the first two of season 2, but the last episode of S2 was horrible. Hopefully the third season will be good.

The Reichenbach Fall? It was heartbreaking. You didn't like it in terms of quality or just because it was heartbreaking?

For me, the second episode was the odd one out (actually in the first season too) mainly because it took palce away from London and was so creepy.

The third ep had moments of brilliance. For a moment I actually believed Moriaty's story, that he was an actor paid by Sherlock.

Yeah it was the same with me, the first of each is great, second weak, then a strong finish to the season. I loved the series 2 finale, can't wait to see the resolve in series 3.

Yup - 2nd episode of both seasons were the weakest.

I felt the same way. They were still good but not as good as episodes 1 and 3 (in both seasons).

Ditto. Any interaction between Moriarty and Holmes in this series has been fascinating to watch. The combnation of casting/writing/acting is about as good as it could possibly be.

At this point I have no idea how Holmes pulled off what he did in that last episode, and I am very anxious to see the next installment to find out how he did it.

Bump! The BBC is apparently promising a big surprise at the end of tonight's repeat of the last episode of season 2. BBC1, 8:30pm. My guess is the first trailer for season 3.

Only one thing detracts from it, to be continued when?

Two things, that and the slug balancing act Watson seems to be doing.

I do hope the Magnum PI look isn't a permanent feature.

I thought the same thing. I'm hoping it's the typical "grew some facial hair to show the passing of time and will be shaved off as part of the return to status quo" that we see so often.

Series 3 will start in the U.S. on January 19, 2014. The UK premiere hasn't been announced yet but it's believed that it will air sometime before that.
