It's interesting how the mind works, distinctly remembering something that was on the printed page as being something watched on television. Sort of a false memory apparently. Perhaps it's also a partial memory of a dream by the OP.
This thread reminds me of the recent discussion about the mysterious Kirk line that was included only in the theatrical version of TUC but was deleted before the VHS release. Truly amazing how people remember something despite it having no basis in reality.

Ok Guys and Gals thanks for the Replies. I was talking about this with a friend at work. I do know for a fact that it definitly was not a comic that I read or saw. do not read them.

What my friend and I were wondering was if it is possible the copy of the VHS tape I saw was one of the 1st productions of the movie on Tape and at the time there were thoughts or plans to make a series on tv to span the gap? if that were true though I kind of thought that there would have been some mention of it on a wiki or something.
Not possible. At the time TWOK was released, the general consensus was that it would be the last Star Trek film. It was only after the film performed well at the box-office and fans demanded that Spock be allowed to return in a subsequent movie that The Search for Spock was put on the drawing board. There were never any plans for a TV movie or mini-series to span the gap between the two films.

As I said earlier, there was no perceived "gap" when ST II was being filmed, but it was originally conceived as a telemovie (to be released theatrically overseas), as were films like "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century", "Duel", "Battlestar Galactica" and "Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack".

And Kirstie Alley and Merritt Butrick were groomed as the featured players for a potential series of telemovies, had Shatner and Nimoy continued to be disinterested in future Treks on TV.

^Interesting. I'd never read any of that before. It would have been strange having a series of films or even a mini-series of Trek without Shatner and Nimoy in the mix, as this was before the days of TNG. And as Merritt Butrick passed away only a few years after TWOK and TSFS, it's strange to think about what might have happened to his character had the David-Saavik romance angle been used.

He was still working as of Season One of TNG ("Symbiosis", 1988), so had the Saavik/David-led telemovies come out at a rate of two or three per year, they'd still have put quite a few under their belts.

Did a little searching through Memory Alpha, and did find this, but it's a short story collection:

I used to have that. The year is said to be something like 2218 or something, apparently so that Khan's "two hundred years ago" could still be consistent with the movies taking place in the 23rd century (and, of course, making it completely inconsistent with the date on Kirk's Romulan ale).

If Romulans printed Federation dates on their bottles.

I distinctly remember a scene in STIII where Kirk says something to the effect of, "I just wanted one last look..." before he and the rest leave the bridge of the doomed Enterprise. The scene is on the comic adaptation, but not on the DVDs or Netflix version.

That was never in the movie. The music lines up precisely with what's in the movie.

I know; I was actually trying to prove Sran's point that I quoted.

I've had the same argument with a friend who claims she saw the little Vulcan girl "Live long and prosper" scene on opening night.
