Why only bad King Solomon's Mines movies?

How come nobody's been able to make a good King Solomon's Mines movie? Maybe it's been too long since I've read the book, but it seems to lend itself nicely to a good Indiana Jones/The Mummy type of adventure.... and yet here are the trhee movies based on the book:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042646/?ref_=sr_2 6.9/10 I guess that's ok. But it's from 1950.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089421/?ref_=sr_1 4.9/10
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0397501/?ref_=sr_3 5.9/10 (TV Movie)

Also, don't you wish this great theme actually came with a good movie? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-fI5wcd-io
