I liked the movie. It makes me want another Flash movie. I will say that, while its leading to a New 52 thing, I liked that

So all the new movies are going to be post new 52?
Not all of them, no. They're saying many of them will connect together in at least a loose continuity, but Andrea Romano specifically said it wouldn't be all of them. Batman: Assault on Arkham, for example, will take place in a separate continuity set in the world of the Arkham video games.

If they're going to do movies sharing continuity, what I'd really like to see, as I mentioned before, is a Young Justice movie trilogy or something completing that show's story arc in a compressed form.

I use logic to figure everything out, which is why crazy people and stupid people stuff up my world view.

You're never going to get a finish to that story.

It failed.

What they're going to give you instead is a remagination again.

Of course I never would have believed Titans Go would dig it's way out of it's grave, but truly if there ever was a cartoon that was saying "brrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaains, Braaaaaaaaiiiins, Braaaaaaaaains." it might just be that piece of fluff.

They're going to go back to the source and give you a new Titans closer to the "modern" New 52 product, because that's what they're selling as T-shirts, hard covers, toys and busts.

"Modern" is on a sliding scale, and it's sliding down hill.

Well having just watched this I must say it was truely terrific. Loved the classic rogues in the beginning and the whole story had me interested all the way til the teaser at the end. A few minor qibbles with the way they had the Flash use his powers but they were only minor. All in all five stars.

Re: Justice League FLashpoint at comicon (+video clip)

Yeah thought this was one of the better movies they've done. I hadn't read the comic so I had no clue what was supposed to happen, but seeing all the dark, alternate characters was pretty fun and kept things nicely unpredictable. The idea of the Amazons going to war with the Atlanteans was a cool one, and the dynamic between Flash and this dark Batman was really interesting to watch as well.

Although the fact this whole, alternate world resulted from Flash saving his mother definitely came out of nowhere (did this scene get edited out or something?), and was a bit hard to buy.

And I couldn't help but be a bit disappointed that the final story involving the original DC universe (at least in the movie's version of the story).... didn't even involve the actual DC characters, but only their twisted, evil doppelgangers.

Somehow that just seems a bit wrong.

But these aren't the original DC characters or the original DC Unverse The originals all disappeared in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

i watched this the other night. I found the story entertaining, but i was blown away by how violent and graphic the movie was. I told my wife, when my son gets a little older, i'm going to have to start watching these animated movies before he can.

^The DVD movies are all made with a PG-13 rating in mind. So yes, it's a given that parents should watch them before deciding whether to share them with a younger child.

I guess i'm just getting old. There was a time when a DC cartoon was appropriate for children. Those days are long gone now.

Society is underestimating our children or infantalizing them.

Comics are too expensive for children.

Most adults won't buy comics written for a 6 year old.

No, there are DC-based cartoons from Warner Bros. directed at various age groups. TV shows on Cartoon Network tend to be aimed at younger viewers; Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman are both TV-PG, although TTG is aimed at a considerably younger crowd. But the DVD movies are deliberately aimed at an older demographic than the TV shows. The point is that the PG-13 rating on the DVDs gives the producers freedom from the restrictions they have to work within on commercial TV and be a little more adult.

Anyone ever been forced to watch Krypto while baby sitting your sister's kids?

I wouldn't mind seeing a Titans Go/Young Justice crossover.

Re: Justice League FLashpoint at comicon (+video clip)

Regardless of whether DCU characters and titles should ever be intended for children...

I found it poetic in a way how Flashpoint bookended my tenure as a DCU fan. I came on board more fully because of the consequences of Crisis on Infinite Earths. And because of Flashpoint, the only DC-published title I now buy is Astro City under the Vertigo label.

The same formula of grand crossovers creating line-wide reboots and relaunches that hooked me in the first place was what led me to the exit.
