Re: THE WOLVERINE - Reviews and Discussion Thread

I feel faked out on the rating.

Remember way back when there were hints this might be released with a hard R rating?

And then the TV ads said "this film is not yet rated". What a tease.

But in the end we all knew what was going to happen.

Gotta get those tweenie butts in seats.

I want to see people sliced into quivering gobbets of flesh, god damn it.

You realize that the tickets those so called "tweenies" buy are what gets these movies made?

James Mangold says that there will be a bloodier, un-rated cut made available forDVD and Blu-Ray release.

Yeah make it "R" let's see how well it does with only people over 21 seeing it.

They would be restricting a huge chunk of the audience and probably make less

Re: THE WOLVERINE - Reviews and Discussion Thread

The Wolverine has been getting much better reviews than Origins. Also RT consensus is in.

Although its final act succumbs to the usual cartoonish antics, The Wolverine is one superhero movie that manages to stay true to the comics while keeping casual viewers entertained.

R is over 21? I thought 17. And anyone under 17 with parents.

Yes, I believe that was my point.

It doesn't mean I have to like it. I don't work for the studio so I really don't care how much it makes.

I meant for this film specifically.

The thing is, the website I was looking at didn't display any times before Friday, and if you put in a request to search Thursday times you just got kicked out of Safari.
When in doubt, call the theater directly.

Well, the show I'm goin' to tonight sold so many tickets, the theater added a second showin' after it for folks who want to come out even later.

Glad I got my seat ahead of time...

Don't be silly. There was never a chance that a comic book movie like this -- not to mention the sixth in the X-Men franchise -- would ever be rated anything besides PG-13. The TV ads saying "this film is not yet rated" reflect nothing but an obligation not to list a rating before the MPAA issues it, not a tease.

Re: THE WOLVERINE - Reviews and Discussion Thread

I don't know how it is done in other countries, but in America the R rating allows anyone under 17 to go see a movie as long as they have someone 17 or older going with them. It's only the NC-17 rating that doesn't allow anyone under 18 to see the movie no matter what.

The PG-13 rating is the general everyone can see it rating. It can be violent and sexy, but not too much so. Most films are rated like this these days, especially blockbusters.

G and PG ratings are now considered for only kid and animated movies by the public.

That's why I said "in the end we all knew what was going to happen".

I enjoyed it, with some very minor gripes. This is the film we should have gotten last time. Current X-Film scoreboard: Four good films, two bad ones.
