Hawkeye is going to be back. Whedon has been saying soothing things to assure Renner that he'll have more to do this time.

Hopefully Ultron will lead to a Vision appearance. And with Scarlet Witch in the mix, love is in the air!

The original theory was that GotG introduces Thanos who is then dealt with in the Avengers 2. Now it seems like GotG isn't going to have anything to do with Avengers 2...?

It kind of makes sense to utilize Thanos in GoG since one of the characters is his daughter after all.

A lot of people are assuming just because Thanos was shown in the end of Avengers meant he was being used for the sequel. Not it appears that they were just setting up another Marvel film, in the same way the end of Iron Man 2 set up for Thor.

Because they are sticking with their looney ANT MAN project. Sigh.

Is that you think, or did Joss actually release a statement?

It's based on something he said yesterday: "It's very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie so now it's nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys."

Will he be calling Cap "Methuselah" and hit on Scarlet Witch?

No, Quicksilver will be the one hitting on Scarlet Witch.

OT: I just found Avengers Lanyards for 99 cents at a nearby clearance store, ended up buying two! I just love saving money.

Ant-Man really gets a bad rap in Marvel, they keep treating him like some madman when it's really all just bad writing (and not realizing full implications of mental illness back in the 60s and 70s) and a few moments of weakness.
Like this?

Spider-Man did the same thing, no one ever held THAT against him.

Before this, Jan did equally nasty stuff to Hank, in fact she did WORSE things to him. No one remembers this.

Plus, apparently this was due to the artist misinterpreting the script and making Hank look way worse than what the writer intended. It wasn't supposed to look like he did this deliberately.

I'm figuring Thanos goes around collecting Infinity Gems in GotG and then will be dealt with in Avengers 3.

That's good to hear. The scenes between Romanova and Barton were good in the movie (if obviously not a significant part). It would suck to lose the character just because it was difficult to juggle all the pieces the first time through.

The whole story about this can be found here, at Jim Shooter's blog.

An excerpt...

In that story (issue 213, I think), there is a scene in which Hank is supposed to have accidentally struck Jan while throwing his hands up in despair and frustration—making a sort of “get away from me” gesture while not looking at her. Bob Hall, who had been taught by John Buscema to always go for the most extreme action, turned that into a right cross! There was no time to have it redrawn, which, to this day has caused the tragic story of Hank Pym to be known as the “wife-beater” story.

When that issue came out, Bill Sienkiewicz came to me upset that I hadn’t asked him to draw it! He saw the intent right through Hall’s mistake, and was moved enough by the story to wish he’d had the chance to do it properly.
