Hey Donny,

You may have addressed this previously and I just missed it but the banding on either side of the the Commadore braid was different than the standard braid that we see on the other uniforms. It was more of a sine wave. You can see it in the above screen cap links that you posted. Here is a photo of what I'm talking about:

Again, if you already address this just disregard my comment.

EDIT: Nevermind, lol, I see that you HAVE addressed it. Sorry.

Always found it supremely amusing that they chose a pretzel to be the symbol of the Constellation. Although I thought the command star (and other branch symbols) was supposed to be located in the circular area in the lower-right-hand corner of the patch.

I'm not sure that's what it is. Actually, this symbol "&" has its calligraphic root in the latin word "et" (=and). The way feek61 has presented the Constellation insignia, I now - and for he first time - see an "A" in the upper half and a "d" in the lower one, forming the latin word "ad" meaning "to".

"Ad astra" seems like the perfect phrase for a ship named "Constellation".

And for those who haven't seen this, here's a bit more information about the ships' insignias from other ships:

The actual patch was folded; only showing part of it with the rest tucked in behind. Here is the back:

Unfolded it would have looked something like this:

Now it looks even MORE like a pretzel!

Or a gremlin face.

Hey Feek,

Could you check the below figure? When I unfold the insignia, I get something slightly different than you, mainly at its connection point on the bottom.

Note that I did not fix the top part of the folded piece which, to me, looks like it might have been doubly-folded or cut to hide it on the back.

Dave

Dr. Dave:

Conversely, can you fold that extra piece from the "unfolded" picture back under the patch to see what you get?

Yes Dave you are correct. That side part is not as long as the top part as I showed it; I was just lazy, lol.

Thanks! BTW, lazy and I are good friends, we often have beers together...

BTW, when playing around with the image in Photoshop, I couldn't help but notice that a lot of the parts of this insignia, both used and unused, look like they came from something like this:

Re: TOS Enterprise Interiors -- Unreal 3 Engine

Just letting everyone know I'm off to Florida for a few days with my family. Doing the Disney thing. I do have 3 extra vacation days after I get back that I plan on spending working on the project, so hopefully I'll have some new stuff for you guys in about a week. Gonna go ahead and finish up McCoy's office and start on the Medical Lab; I'm missing working on the interiors.
