It's in the uncanny valley of low budget. It feels like it's trapped somewhere between amateurish and professional, yet it lacks the charm and warmth of the amateurish. It feels sterile.
Probably has a great future ahead of it as a SyFy movie of the week then.

I think it's difficult to get much sense of the feel of the thing from this short clip. Whether it feels more comfortable, or more of the same when (if) you watch the finished product is anyone's guess.
That would've been an interesting observation had there been an actual interchange where charm or warmth was required.

Re: "Polaris"

We're working through the effects on a group of scenes that take place off the ship, in a pretty arid place. Hopefully will be able to post a couple of stills in the next couple of weeks. It should be pretty cool.

Thanks

If only the director felt that way.

Re: "Polaris"

Or, maybe what I wrote was too subtle: what you saw was too small a sample to serve as a meaningful example of the overall tone of the piece, especially minus the context in which it happens.

You know, I've been waiting for this to make its appearance and to be frustrated that it wasn't exactly the way I had pictured it in my head, but damn, that's pretty much dead-on. I'm looking at it and really can't see a single thing I would change.

I'm really glad to hear that - I had to make some things up and take some liberties with the details. Just tried to keep a sense of what I thought was intended.

Gosh! That is sweet looking! How many times can one of those babies go from orbit to surface and back?
