One of the most Politically Incorrect songs of all time & it's GREAT!

If Bobby Darrin showed up today trying to get this song on the air he'd be run out of town by torch bearing mobs fronted by the PC police but back in the day you could put out a fun awesome song like this and not get burned at the stake!

Just a great song:

Probably not even close to being "One of the most Politically Incorrect songs of all time". It's a parody of an old folk song to boot.

Fair enough but could you throw a couple examples up of which you speak?

Songs that are more offensive/non PC than one that's basically a fat joke? By this standard, "Eat It" by Weird Al is one of the most politically incorrect music videos of all time

I believe you're thinking of Weird Al's "Fat" (a parody of Michael Jackson's "Bad").

Now, if you're looking for songs that were innocent and entertaining in their time but would be considered politically incorrect today, here are a few:

LOL at the Ray Stevens song for the win! Yeah, boy that was un-PC.

Running bear was kinda sweet in its own way.

What a delightfully quaint and misguided view of the world you have.

Very NSFW, not safe around the kids, videos below - but not because the PC Police are going to get you.

I went the easy/lazy route and just quickly grabbed a few rap (and one techno) songs, but there are a lot more from plenty of other genres to choose from.

"Springtime for Hitler"? Though that was intentionally offensive.

"When You're in Love the Whole World is Jewish"? A parody.

Anyone notice the Clementine song is sung to the tune of Mack the Knife?

Eta: Doh, and now I see the notes under the video, hehe.

By Pat Boone and Mel Blanc, no less!

The rhythm and phrasing are the same as Bobby Darin's uptempo version of "Mack the Knife," but the melody is that of the original folk song "Clementine." The tunes of the two songs are somewhat similar, though.

A couple of Bob Clampett's "Beany and Cecil" cartoons featured a jive-talking swordfish named Jack the Knife, who sang all his lines to the tune of Bobby Darin's jazzed-up "Clementine." Perhaps they used that tune rather than "Mack the Knife" because of copyright issues.

It's jazzed up a bit, but the words are pretty close to those found in more traditional renditions of the song. The old folk song is itself a parody, though: it observes the form of a traditional type of tragic story-telling song, but the lyrics aren't so much politically incorrect as they are absurd verging on silly.

It will always be the Huckleberry Hound song to me. Huck was my favorite cartoon character when I was four.

Sorry, the song's neither one of the most politically incorrect of all time nor especially great.
