I have watched two sports games in my life and each time the warm over priced beer in plastic cups definitely helped.

It boggles my mind that, this far into the 21st century, people still buy into primitive gender stereotypes-- it boggles my mind even more that some people actual revel in their own negative gender stereotypes, apparently believing that it makes them look kewl and worldly.

The most interesting people I've ever known have been intelligent and civilized.

As to the fandom cliches, years online didn't talk me into them being a reality, actually meeting a whole lot of fans en masse at cons did.
While the number of thugs and throwbacks in fandom certainly did disillusion me a bit, the intelligent and civilized people far outnumber them.

But will they dress up like a Storm Trooper for Comicon?

The vocal minority, no matter how minor. always defines the group.

Oh pfft RJ you sound like we should all be supping on cucumber sandwiches.

Forget the stormtroopers, I'll take a passel of twi'leks and any clear alcoholic beverage I can dye a nice sci fi blue.

It's quite possible we aren't talking about the same thing though

We may not be talking about the same things, but maybe we are, who knows!

I'm talking about the ageism so proudly on display a few posts up from my first post. When I was a young, shy, introvert I would have taken this archaic display to heart. My self esteem would have taken a serious hit.

However, now that I am older and have some amazing people (some of whom are men ) in my life I know that I don't have to be silent about this crap...and I won't.

It is very sad when guys start saying that women have a "best before" date, and if any of them later moan about being alone I have to say that this is one of the reasons why.

Re: Angie Harmon: Babe of the Week #27 (July 2013)

The "best before date" was about how long Heather had been inside my mind.

(My wank bank.)

20 years.

If I was just encountering her for the first time, either Heather now, or Heather 20 years ago, I would be agog and marvel.

But it's been 20 years.

Bored now.

Most marriages last 2 years.

It may define the perception of the lowest denominator, but it doesn't change reality.

Actually, I prefer cheeseburgers.

When I talk about civilized behavior, I don't mean a 1930s cotillion for dainty ladies. It doesn't matter how you dress or eat your salad. I'm talking about intelligent, educated, compassionate, civil people-- civil meaning treating fellow people with respect.

Beer is the only thing I like to drink at a sporting event (my favorite is Natty-Boh, a.k.a. National Bohemian). I've really kind of lost interest in pop.

Those are usually cheap and nasty, full of sugar and dye to hide inferior alcohol. However I've never actually dyed vodka blue, so maybe by the time you've dumped enough dye in it to see it something is yucky.

We need REAL Romulan ale and we need it now!!

I wasn't intending to signal you out at all! Your posts entertain me on a fairly regular basis (especially those that are laced with sarcasm!)

It was a convenient phrase, so I used it to describe a general atmosphere in here whenever women over 25 are judged. I am aware that no one cares about how offensive this is...but I do, so expect me to comment from time to time.
