Supes is Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Iron Man combined. He would have been able to beat up all those Leviathans, beat Loki to a pulp and take care of all those minions.
All Loki would have to do is teleport to a dimension with a bunch of green, glowing rocks and bring some back. That wouldn't be a problem for Hulk, Thor, Cap and Shellhead.

How would that work out for ol' Supes and Zod?
He'd have to know about it first... In this universe its undiscovered as of yet.
Loki is the God of Mischief. It's his job to fuck with good people's lives in unpredictable ways. I don't see him having a lot of trouble finding kryptonite if he needs it. The history of Krypton means there's a debris field full of it floating around in space somewhere.

In a comic when I was a kid Superman tricked Loki into saying his name backwards (shades of Mxyzlptk or however it's spelled) by giving him a 5 cent coin. When Loki asked ehat it was, Supes told him it was a nickel. Loki repeated it and bang, zoom. He went back to wherever it was he came from.

(I know, "nickel" isn't the same as "Loki" said backwards, but it worked.)

I believe in the Avengers movie the Chitauri were just securing their foothold in the city, protecting the portal while the bulk of the force came through. Then the proper invasion could begin.

You say that like it's a natural conclusion that rocks from your homeworld are somehow super poisonous to you and will strip you of your powers while you're near it.

Hey, Luthor figured it out very quickly in the first Superman.

Loki doesn't need Kryptonite. He's magical.

And yes not even Superman can lift Mjlonir with pure strength alone. Just like the Hulk could not in the Avengers.
This I don't buy. First of all, depending on what you want to go with Superman is strong enough to lift the planet and then some. He should be on a strength alone be able to pick up Mjolnir. But, fine, we'll simply go with the magical enchantment on Mjolnir means it's not a matter of strength to pick it up, it's worthiness. And if a child were "worthy" they could pick it up.

And could anyone really be more "worthy" than Superman? He's as good, unselfish and as kind-hearted as you can get and not as prone to bouts of stupidity-induced egotism like Thor is. Superman should be able to lift Mjolnir but we'll roll with what Thor says there, I suppose, that on some level Odin/Mjolnir itself decides when, why and who is worthy and even then maybe let them get to lift it.

Yeah the current era Superman (Post Crisis on Infinite Earth's back from 1986 up to New 52 and Man Of Steel) doesn't have planet moving strength like his Silver Age incarnation. The Silver Age Superman and Superboy were capable of moving through time under their own power as well through use of super speed. The present era Superman tops out at 700 mph or the speed of sound. Different eras of the character account for the discrepancies of their abilities.

In the JLA vs Avengers comic where Superman and Thor fight it's post-Crisis Superman.

Apparently Thor can pass the Mjolnir to someone else if he chooses.

It's shown in a New52 book that Superman as able to bench-press the entire weight of the planet for several days before breaking a single drop of sweat.

Again, depends on what version you want to go with but needless to say Superman has been shown to be very, very, strong orders of magnitude greater than pretty much any other comic-book character, including Hulk.

Seriously? I thought they would have avoided making him that powerful that soon.

Indeed I would like to know the issue number so I can confirm this. Or post an image of it XD. The only New52 comics i own are the Justice League vol 1 and Superman Men of Steel.

Re: MAN OF STEEL - Grading & Discussion

Found it New 52 Superman issue 14 They Will Join You in The Sun. Funny how this Superman is just starting out and is supposed to be the same strength if not weaker than his previous incarnation and this one issue says screw that noise and has Supes do some ridiculous BS like this.

Made all the more distressing by the fact that Orm/Ocean Master and Vulko another Atlantian have no problems laying into the bench pressing, Earth New52 Superman. Comic writers have no consistency.
