IDK man compared to preventing a gravity enhancing terraforming machine on opposite sides of the planet is no small feat. By comparison laying the hurt on aliens riding scouters who were vulnerable to arrows and bullets seems like a cake walk for someone with Superman's powers.

Supes is Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Iron Man combined. He would have been able to beat up all those Leviathans, beat Loki to a pulp and take care of all those minions.

Actually, it would be fun to see the Avengers battle recreated with Superman. Anyone got a couple of millions left?

Supes vs the cube: Top of stark towers goes thru the portal, cube and emitter included.

If Iron Man had gone up against the Kryptonians, Tony Stark would be a greasy streak on the street now - this is a three-second problem for Zod.

Re: MAN OF STEEL - Grading & Discussion

Well Iron Man did OKish against Thor. If you take the crossover comics as canon, Thor = Superman

Although Thor would later say that he knows Superman's limits and that a rematch might see himself as the victor. Playing in to the fact that Thor is very arrogant and doesn't give his 100% against every opponent he fights.

And yes not even Superman can lift Mjlonir with pure strength alone. Just like the Hulk could not in the Avengers.

Iron Man's has a chance if he disable one of the Krytptonian breathers or deliver an awesome repulsor blast that incapacitates a Kryptonian.

I'm SO glad the Marvel movies don't have Thor talking like that. As much as I'd like to get into the comics, the unbearably cheesy and forced Old English dialogue just makes it really hard to ever take him seriously.

Re: MAN OF STEEL - Grading & Discussion

In modern comics Thor (and the asguardians) way of speaking really isn't an issue anymore. I'm currently reading a Marvel Essentials Thor volume (basically, its a b&W reprinting of old thor comics) reprinting Stan Lee/Jack Kirby Thor comics, and its definately a challenge to decipher at times. It feels like stan had a dictionary, thesaurus, and the complete works of shakespeare on hand when writting the dialog, which at times goes from just being an annoyance to actually being a chore to read. The stories are quality, and I love Stan Lee (who doesn't?) but you don't know annoying thor dialog until you see his stuff.

All Loki would have to do is teleport to a dimension with a bunch of green, glowing rocks and bring some back. That wouldn't be a problem for Hulk, Thor, Cap and Shellhead.

How would that work out for ol' Supes and Zod?

Also, Supes in vulnerable to magic as well as Kryptonite. Mjolner... y'know, magic. Loki... magic as well.

The aliens in The Avengers were the Keystone Cops of alien invaders. They had a fucking ARMY that had in it's ranks giant flying space serpents and they couldn't even take and hold a few blocks of one city. Seriously, what was their plan? What tactics were being used? None. The whole plan seemed to be "ride in and uh....shoot some stuff up and they'll surrender?"

Some of the Avengers spent a few minutes getting about twenty or so people to safety....the bulk of the time the whole team spent fighting the most incompetent alien invaders put on film. Luckily the government in the MCU was willing to slaughter the whole of New York when faced with a group of idiots on flying scooters and miraculously handed the Avengers with the tool to win the day.

The amount of challenge they would've provided Superman would've been exactly none at all.

Re: MAN OF STEEL - Grading & Discussion

Yeah, to me it seems a bit disingenuous to compare the damage in these two movies when Avengers barely showed the invading army even doing anything except shooting up a few cars and menacing some civilians-- even though they far outnumbered our heroes and could have still killed scores of people and destroyed plenty of buildings. But by the time the battle is over, you get the feeling no more than 5 or 10 people died in the entire freakin city-- which is just absurd.

MOS may have gone a bit overboard with the destruction, but at least it didn't shy away from showing the real damage that could occur during an epic event such as this.
