^ Sadly, you're probably right. Ah well, it's still fun to think about.

A couple ideas:

Kirk and Marcus get together and maintain a stable, monogamous relationship while serving aboard the Enterprise. No more "Kirk's always banging green-skinned, alien space babes on every planet", which is a bit of ascended fanon that needs to go away.

A faction of Vulcans develops on New Vulcan who wish to reunite with the Romulans, potentially jeopardizing the membership of one of the Federation's founding members. Despite the mismatch in ideologies, this group sees it as imperative for the sake of survival that the two races combine their gene pool. What's more, Prime Spock is sympathetic to this faction, seeing this as a second chance to complete the reunification that he failed to achieve in the Prime universe. NuSpock takes the opposite position, believing the Romulans as untrustworthy as Nero. The two of them end up as antagonists to one another, in a sincere, non-mustache-twirling manner, and in the process explore whether the survival of a race is worth assimilation or if the moral imperatives of one's culture trump pragmatism. In the end they find a peaceful solution (it is Spock squared, after all) and the Romulan Empire's relationship with the Federation thaws similar to the Federation and Klingons in Prime Trek.
THIS!!! I'd like to see some Bad Robot TOS Romulans.

A sequel to Into Darkness. Well, maybe not a direct sequel, but there was to much happening for there not to be any fall-out.

If the next movie pretends it never happened, that would kinda suck for me.

Well, there's an aricle floating around the interwebs that pretty much dismisses that particular popular myth with proof from the episodes.

Well ok, they weren't green. But Kirk smooches a whole lot of women during the series.

Smooching, yes. Actually 'banging' them.... not so much.

That's what commercial breaks are for.

Indeed, I think there's only really any kind of canonical evidence to suggest Kirk only slept with three women. Carol Marcus, Miramanee, and Deela. Though with Deela, it's just implied, the two of them were in a bedroom together and Kirk was putting his boots back on. With Carol and Miramanee it's pretty obvious. They got pregnant somehow.

Re: Developments you'd like to see in the NTrekverse

It's likely that the Klingons will be in the next film, though I am not one clamoring to see them again after Into Darkness. I like Klingons just fine and am enjoying them in the "After Darkness" comic but when I think about Trek movies in general the Klingons have been the major foes or prominent adversaries in nearly half of them (Trek III, IV, V, VI, VII, and they had notable cameos in I, IV, and XII).

I wish they would move on to other species like the Gorn and the Tholians as bad guys. I also wouldn't mind seeing this reality's take on the Romulans. The Borg. There I said it. I've always wanted to know how Kirk and crew would fare against them, and if Archer could face down the Borg I don't see why Kirk couldn't.

I'm curious to see what Abrams, etc. could do with a new alien adversary though there are so many existing ones already out there that could be developed and probably serve whatever purpose a newly invented one would.

As for the crew:
-Building on the Carol Marcus-Kirk relationship.
-Developing Uhura as more than Spock's girlfriend while also continuing the relationship.
-Moving McCoy beyond being snarky.
-More development for Sulu, Chekhov, Scotty, and Keenser. Badass and comedic moments are fine, but I liked Scotty standing up to Kirk, it was really the heart of Into Darkness for me, and I would like to see all of the people who aren't Kirk and Spock contributing to the moral and intellectual quandaries the ship will get into.
-M'Vess and Arex added to the crew.
-More names and species names for alien crew members of the Enterprise. I think they are messing up an opportunity for toys, games, comics, etc, by not developing some of those background characters.

My only wish is to NOT have a Carol Marcus-Kirk relationship. I'm hoping to see a more mature Kirk who is focused on forging a stronger relationship with his crew (reaching TOS levels) and a Kirk who is focused/coming to terms with all that he has experience/learned about himself in STID.

Correct me if I am wrong but they will now be going on a five year mission and were Kirk and Marcus to get together it feels as though that is something that would distract him from applying all this new found knowledge about himself.

It would make sense to me that to deal with all that will happen on a "normal" daily basis Kirk would now strengthen his "new found" relationship with Spock and his familiar friendship with Bones. This is the point where the triumvirate is truly formed.

This. For all the reasons mentioned and also because IMO a Captain having a sexual liasion with one of his crew is a really bad idea and I hope reboot Kirk has moved past the point where he would.

I suspect I'll be disappointed on this point...

Maybe they'll just be married the next time we see them and leave it at that. That way we don't have to see Abrams, Orci, and Kurtzman awkwardly try to show them "courting."

As well on that point. Hopefully thy'll have broken up Spock and Uhura and put her with Scotty where she should be (thanks to TFF).
