Only 48 pages? I love Star Charts, and I like the concept for this one but I'm really going to have to look at this before I shell over that amount for only 48 pages.
It sounds like the book element is supplemental to the maps being the main content of thing thing. Each map is about ten pages worth of paper, so there's another hundred pages, they're just loose.

Kinda like the 1980 Star Trek Maps, which was a pouch containing two big double-sided foldout maps and an Introduction to Navigation booklet.

I read the item about this on TrekCore, and it mentions that Nemecek was a contributor to Star Charts. So the two might well be consisent. Then again, Mandel worked on both ST Maps and STSC, yet they interpreted the Trek universe in two completely different ways.

That's around the same price as their other stuff, so it's about what I was expecting.

And we now have both the official announcement from Larry:

And the official startrek.com announcement:

Sighs of reassured relief all 'round!

I'm very excited to hear about this. Technical reference works are my favorite type of Star Trek publication, and they are too few and far between. I'll definitely be purchasing this one!

↑ I locked one up too. It may seem overpriced to some, a lot of things Trek are. That & Trek reference books are so rare that this was hard to pass up. I still hope there will be an Art Of tie in to STID in the late-fall but won't hold my breath.

Ahhh, now you have my interest in a big way. I'm in the Army. I LOVE maps. Thanks for the clarification.

Man, fall/winter 2013 is a hell of a time to be my bank account.

Two of my favorite things are fictional space cartography and miniature space ships. I'm gonna have to buy this and then I'll be starting the Eaglemoss starship of the month club too.

Re: Larry Nemecek to announce new book

Guessing that the KLI will have had a hand in working up the Klingon map, as they did with the BoP tech manual? Whose version of Romulan alphabet will be getting usage here?
