Well, here's what it says on his site:

COMING SOON: A new Trek background book from me! Best of all, it's gap-filling canon—non-fiction lives! Stay tuned for details about a new maps/book set, officially licensed by CBS. Out this fall. ...

More maps! Yay! I love that sort of stuff, and am very happy to see that we're getting stuff new material.

Will be interesting to see what kind of questions answered/questions posed ratio this one has.

Re: Larry Nemecek to announce new book

Well, Amazon have spilt the beans, here's their description:

The Starfleet Reference Library: Stellar Cartography collects together ten original, never-before-seen large-format maps of the Star Trek universe. Pulled from the cartography archives of Starfleet Academy, these beautifully reproduced maps provide a rare opportunity to view the expanse of Federation space (and beyond) through the multiple lenses of the Galaxy's key players.

The maps include an ancient Vulcan map, a Klingon Empire map from the pre-Organian Peace Treaty era (in the native Klingon), an official Romulan government map of the Empire, a native Cardassian Union map from the Bajor occupation, along with Federation maps from the modern era. Housed in a handsome clamshell case and paired with a fully-illustrated reference book providing detailed information on planets, systems, and topography, this exclusive collection showcases the Star Trek universe like never before.
Sounds like fun to me, having maps from different times and cultural perspectives should make it a very different experience from Star Charts; which did that a little bit I suppose, but not as full on as this sounds.

Cool, depending on my financial situation when it comes out I might have to get one. I have a feeling they won't be doing a digital version of this, so I might have to go physical for this one.

A bit pricey, but I think if I start saving now it'll be doable.

So basically Star Charts done in the same style as the First 150 Years of the Federation? Could be interesting, but at that price I'm out.

I'll say it's pricey! It's only 48 pages and that makes it about a $1.00 a page. I know it will come down by release date on Amazon but I doubt even at half price I would buy it.

Wow! I must be making progress! I can actually say NO! to purchasing a Trek book!!!

Only 48 pages? I love Star Charts, and I like the concept for this one but I'm really going to have to look at this before I shell over that amount for only 48 pages.

Sounds like it's more of a coffee-table art book than an atlas per se. I wonder how consistent it'll be with Star Charts. Strictly speaking, it wouldn't have to be, but a lot of the novels have used SC as a resource, and it'd be nice if this were a compatible resource for future novelists to draw on.

Agreed on that point in particular, and I suspect that Larry and Geoffrey already know this.
