Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Perhaps there isn't a connection. I guess I was referring to the multiverse break down. It opens up introducing Marvel Man now. Poor word choice use by me?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The question of course is how. Marvel Man exists in own universe. Will he come over to the 616 a la Angela (and leave his continuity behind)? Will they begin anew and introduce a 616 Mickey Moran? How would either version of Marvel Man, a Superman level character, fit in with the Marvel Universe? They tried it with Sentry and it bombed. They seem to be trying it again with Hyperion, though he (or at least a couple of versions of him) at least has a real history within the Marvel Universe. And most importantly, will Marvel Man be British?

The only reason that htere may be changes to Angela's backstory is that Marvel doesn't own any other part of Spawn canon. Marvel, however owns Marvelman and his backstory lock stock and barrel.

But it's backstory that only works in his own Universe.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

If everything that happened in Alan Moore's Run of Miracle Man happened on a Sunday maybe the rest of the world didn't notice?

From the wiki

Moore's last issue, number 16 ("Olympus") ends with an unsettling depiction of Miracleman's apotheosis, as he and his superhuman allies bring the entire planet under their totalitarian control. Miracleman and his companions, explicitly compared to gods, now rule the planet as they see fit, though they are ineffectively opposed by groups such as an alliance of Christian and Islamic fundamentalists. The "age of miracles" is ostensibly benevolent, but in scenes such as the final conversation between Miracleman and Liz, Moore suggests that Miracleman has lost his humanity and that his utopia is ultimately harmful to humankind. .
I think somebody would notice.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

After 20 years of collecting comics and only finding 4 issues of Miracle Man, and there never ever being a chance of a collection because of the legal spaghetti... These were the first comics I downloaded.

So, yes I've read them.

What I should have said was that no one in America would have noticed.

Did you miss the part about the entire planet being under the control of Miracle Man and Co.?

I bought them off the rack ( okay, my shop actually pulled them for me, so they were never on a rack)

And I still don't think that would phase the majority of US culture in the 80s.

Possibly by the millennium, your average cousin shtupping hillbilly is going to wonder why no one's tried to sign them up for voter registration in a coon's age... But the rest were either working a 60 hour week or/and addicted to Wheel of Fortune reruns.

Besides any one that saw some international news would just assume that they bought some rather good cocain this week.

It was the 80s.

Speaking as an American who was in his twenties during the 1980s, I'll say you're wrong. We weren't all coke addicted worker drones unaware of the world around them.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Why so serious?

This is why I wrote what I wrote.

The Doctor: You know what? This is the biggest library in the universe. So where is everyone?
[looks around]
The Doctor: It's silent...
Donna Noble: The library?
The Doctor: The planet. The whole planet.
Donna Noble: Maybe it's a Sunday?
The Doctor: No, I never land on Sundays. Sundays are boring.
Never explain a joke, it only insults people.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

What about...

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

And the battle's just begun
There's many lost, but tell me who has won
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Of course we're all more than aware that U2 wasn't talking about the 80s when that album came out in '83.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Trudging slowly over wet sand
Back to the bench where your clothes were stolen
This is the coastal town
That they forgot to close down
Armageddon - come armageddon!
Come, armageddon! come!

Everyday is like sunday
Everyday is silent and grey

Hide on the promenade
Etch a postcard :
"how I dearly wish I was not here"
In the seaside town
...that they forgot to bomb
Come, come, come - nuclear bomb

Everyday is like sunday
Everyday is silent and grey

Trudging back over pebbles and sand
And a strange dust lands on your hands
(and on your face...)
(on your face ...)
(on your face ...)
(on your face ...)

Everyday is like sunday
"win yourself a cheap tray"
Share some greased tea with me
Everyday is silent and grey

Morrissey, ladies and gents .
