Speaking of which, my author copies just arrived in the mail. Yippee!

I'm admiring them now . . ..
So what's the worst movie you've written the novelization for?
I'm not going to bash any of them. That would be bad form.

But probably the most obscure was Death Defying Acts, a movie about Harry Houdini that was barely released in the US. It pretty much went straight to DVD.

Too bad. I enjoyed writing that book, which gave me an excuse to research Houdini and his life. And I liked the movie.

Oo! Neat! That's definitely something I'd be interested in (I'm sort of a fan of Houdini.) Definitely have to check that out, as well as your Man of Steel novelization.

FYI: The movie stars Guy Pearce (as Houdini) and Catherine Zeta-Jones (as a beautiful psychic who tries to swindle him). I'm biased, of course, but it's worth checking out.

My guess is that he'd found a way to do it, while leaving Kitty behind.

Nah, Lex ended up using her as food after a few days while he coming up with a way to get off the island. He probably thought she was delicious.

Most of that dialogue was in the script. I was pretty scrupulous about sticking to the script.
I'm looking forward to reading the novelization because when watching the movie I felt like quite a few times the story in the movie went from point A to point C and skipped point B. Likely due to things being cut/trimmed.
About the only thing I tweaked was working some of the Kryptonian names and terminology into the dialogue just so that Clark and Lois and the various military folks would know what the name of Zod's ship was, what Faora and Nam-Ek and Jax-Ur were named, etc. This was necessary because I wanted to be able to refer to the Kryptonians by name even if a scene was being told from the POV of Lois or Col. Hardy or Dr. Hamilton or whomever.
Just finished the novelization. I loved it. I always enjoy the reading experience as well as the movie. In the novelization you reference Nam-Ek's size to possible genetic experimentation with Rondor DNA. Was that in the script or a throwback to Nam-Ek of comic book yesteryear?

That was my idea, as a little homage to the comic-book version.

It can be used for that, but, it's generally purchased for blowing one's nose

Jeff Robinov has quit Warner Brothers...not exactly the announcement we were expecting from Warner Brothers after opening weekend!

Indeed so. I expected some kind of changes from the new head honcho but nothing like this.

Nikki Finke is acting as Robinov's mouthpiece in that article. Variety will probably give the counter-argument.
