Re: Godzilla 2014: Rumors, Pix and filming

I guess San Fran is the most movie iconic, photogenic Pacific Rim US city. Godzilla coming ashore by Santa Monica pier isn't quite as beautiful as Godzilla and Golden Gate Bridge

Also, from what I have read elsewhere it seems that San Francisco will be the city where Godzilla makes landfall.
Suddenly I'm hoping for a Godzilla/Mythbusters crossover. Can Grant build a robot to stop Godzilla?
That would be awesome!

Whenever monsters or alien invaders attack the continental US, the Golden Gate Bridge is usually their prime target after the Statue of Liberty.

New pict on Ain't It Cool News...FEMA relief for those affected by Godzilla's rampage. This does mean that at least some of the film will be set in the US.

Director Gareth Edwards setting up a special eefects shot. It looks like Godzilla, or one of the other monsters, will be chewing on atrain.

I do feel good that not all special effects will be CGI. It seems like we will get a mixture of CGI and practicle effects.

Well it worked for Jurassic Park, I mean 20 years later and it still looks good.

Yeah, I'm also glad to see that they will be some practical effects in there with the CG stuff. I've noticed that it seems like more film makers are starting to go back to having a combination of the two, instead of just doing everything digitally.

Cool article with pics. About a place in Canada transformed into a fishing village where Godzilla attacked.

Godzilla returns! Abandoned Japanese fishing village devastated by marauding beast is recreated in Canada for new movie

  • Abandoned fishing boats, ruined shacks and nuclear warnings on display
  • Filming taking place in seaside town of Steveston in Vancouver, Canada
  • Japanese fishermen flocked to town to work in salmon-canning industry
  • New version of 1954 classic starring Bryan Cranston set for release in 2014

Scene being filmed with Japanes children (mostly) being evacuated from a school.

This confirms that a portion of the movie does take place in Japan.

More shots from filming. It seems Godzilla will be attacking the Golden Gate Bridge. He was going to attack that bridge in the 1994 American Godzilla movie that never was produced.

According to Godzilla-Movies.com, Michael Giacchino is going to do the musical score of the movie.

http://www.godzilla-movies.com/news/854

I've been hoping for Giacchino all along. His "Roar" piece from "Cloverfield" is a fantastic hommage to the stuff Akira Ifukube did.
