They're apparently filming an episode in New Zealand where they've requested the closing off of a large beach north of Auckland.

I spoke to someone I know who works on the series and apparently everyone's pissed the news got out...

I've been souring on Top Gear for some time now, mostly because of Clarkson being such an asshole on and off the camera, but I have to admit, that Nile special was pretty fucking epic, I enjoyed it a lot.
I really enjoyed it. I think they've maybe pulled it back a little in the last couple of seasons, been a little less 'in your face' and 'smug'. It's made for a better show.

I greatly enjoyed the Nile special, it was a proper epic adventure and they didn't overdo the scripted wackiness.

Not much else in this series has stood out for me, though. The US road trip was decent I guess?

Pretty much - nothing outstanding for me so far but the Nile special, though I really did enjoy the Damian Lewis lap. Solid but not thrilling.

Re: Top Gear series 19

Thread resurrection... I've only seen a handful of Top Gear episodes, but now that I have Netflix streaming, I plan of watching them all through the summer. They don't have Series (season) 1 available, but I've finished 2 and am half way through series 3. Awesome stuff, but it sounds like it goes downhill in the later series.

It's still damn good. Wait till you reach the episode where they road trip from Miami to New Orleans.

Question, how many episodes were there this season? seems like the Nile special was it for BBC America. There may have been one after it, but it seemed like an incredibly short season.

well, this was a disappointment.. I'm not the kind of person to spend my days ranting about stuff on the internet, but in this case I'll make an exception... It seems the show is getting shorter and shorter: 5 real episodes, 2 specials and one "Best Of"...
As far as Series 1 never being shown on BBCA, I wonder if they just don't want to pay Jason Dawes royalties.

They were doing earlier series' for a while last year & went all the way back to S2 and then that was it.

Which means that Dave will have a few more episodes to add to the endless re-runs of Top Gear.

Just for the record regarding number of episodes per season.

S19: 7
S18: 8 (+2 speicals 50 years of Band cars plus a Children in Need So really 7 episodes)

S17: 6
S16: 7
S15: 6
S14: 6

In the earlier seasons it was longer but for the several seasons it's beena round 6 to 7 episodes.
