Saldana Wants to Direct

Zoë Saldana has a new goal; wanting to move into directing movies instead of acting in them. She has several reasons for wanting to do so, including more participation and more control over a project. It didn't say anything about her directing the next Star Trek movie, just that she wants to direct...in general. That's how people gain experience.

I am all for her getting all the experience she can, just not in Trek.

But the point that you seem to be missing is that neither she nor the article said anything about directing Star Trek, or that if she did it would happen immediately without her having the opportunity to gain experience first.

She could do a lot worse than talk to Mr. Frakes and Mr. Burton. First Contact WAS a pretty successful film directed by a cast member.
