As for the Cyclops comment, what is so stupid about that idea? Are you saying a little person shouldn't play a heroic character like Cyclops?
Yes. Because Cyclops is a tall, athletic young man and a world class pilot. His character is not appropriate for a dwarf actor anymore than it would be for a morbidly obese actor or a ridiculously tall one.

When I saw Dinklage was in the cast I thought he was going to be Puck.

I'm surprised that nobody has yet posted about the following photo, which seems to back up Admiral Young's theory:
That would just back up the idea that Trask is involved in the film, which would be unsurprising for a DOFP adaptation. But it doesn't point specifically to Dinklage playing Trask.
Note - 'seem to back up.' I didn't say definitely confirms it. Some of us don't see things in black and white.

Anyway, here are some more pics from the shoot, including Erik and Charles doing their Led Zeppelin impression and Peter Dinklage dressed as a 70s porn star. He does look like a business man of some sort which I again think seems to suggest that he might be Trask or some sort of industrialist.

Perhaps he's Larry Trask if not Bolivar. Larry was a mutant who possessed pre-cog powers IIRC, and accurately predicted the assassination of Robert Kelly. I believe Larry Trask is also responsible for Havok's containment suit as well. Also interesting is that Larry Trask has a connection with Quicksilver

Or maybe he's playing John Holmes.

Thats what I mean. I think everyone should have the chance to play different roles. There can be heroic characters played by small people. that said, sometimes people just don't fit a role, and its because of physical attributes. A small person really can't play cyclops in a serious movie. A fat person can't play Reed Richards either, and a white guy would probably not be hired to play Black Panther. You can tweak characters sometimes, but there are limits.

Outside of JJ abrams and Nolan based Superhero movies I'm actually not all that negative in general (there is always exceptions, but those two things are really the only things that I tend to rant over).
*CoughFarscapeCough*

Thats completely different. I never said I don't dislike other stuff. I gave Farscape a very fair chance, and it has a lot of positives. I don't go off on Farscape like Abrams or stuff like that. I'll mention I don't like it sometimes, but I don't rant or anything. It had an ok first season, and it had some great moments and characters. It also had writers that make George Lucas look skilled and characters so stupid they were basically female Jar Jar Binks characters. The way I feel about farscape is completely different then the blinding rage I feel about things like the JJ abrams movies that makes me rant about them.

Not an original thought, but I wonder if they'll stick with the comic's story-line of preventing a president's assassination, or will they keep it with Kelly, since in the movies, he's already dead?

It might be interesting if the real purpose is to prevent the events of the first film from ever happening.

Of course if that were the case then why go back to the 70's? Oh well.

maybe the timeline of the original films is what occurs *after* they change history.

Perhaps they'll use Vaughn's idea of Magneto being responsible for the "magic bullet" to trigger the construction of the Sentinels. The main story in present time seems to take place in 1973 but perhaps the film will open with this as a sort of prologue?

^Interesting, but I don't see Erik thinking that with Kennedy out of the way, mutant-kind would benefit so much more having LBJ in the White House instead. The "provoking a war between mutants and humans" angle wouldn't work since at that point the existence of mutants is still technically a secret and they are in no shape to win. Indeed, it's not until he had the numbers AND the walking nuke that was Jean Grey on his side in X3 that he even attempted to match human forces head-on.

Plus, if Magneto wanted Kennedy dead, he wouldn't use a "magic bullet." He'd just float out into dealey plaza and fold the motorcade in half. The man does not know the meaning of the word "subtle". I mean his wardrobe alone...

Regarding Trask. I have a feeling we'll meet him in the past and everyone will be delighted at his ideas.

Fast forward to the future and sentinels have now rounded up mutants into camps

It's up to the future team and the past team to stop the sentinel project from happening.

So basically the "Terminator" movies

^ That'd explain Singer's conversation with Cameron regarding that particular form of time travel

Its long been suspected that the original comic was one of Cameron's influences in creating the Terminator.

We know what the influence was on Cameron's Terminator - mainly because he had to pay him off! :-)

Re: X-MEN: Days Of Future Past (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

Noticed I said ONE of his influences. I am very much aware of the Harlan Ellison situation. But the comic was likely too. It release is closer to the movie being made and I would say has even more similarities than to Ellison's work. Marvel is just not as willing to sue as Ellison. Or at least not back than. Now a days they would if something similar happened.
